I was a meth addict who only stopped when I was 4 months pregnant. Up until now (38 weeks gestation), I’ve been too afraid to find out if I put my baby at risk during the first 4 months of conceiving him, simply because I was still using. I stopped everything cold turkey and it wasn’t easy (still isn’t) but I pray that my baby falls under that slim possibility of being risk free, and healthy with no long term consequences. If anyone who watches this video comes across this comment, please pray for my baby at least. 😥 thank you all

My granddaughter was exposed to meth in the womb.. She's two now and the affects are still there. She's the most angry, mean, happy, bipolar toddler ive met. Every day is a new adventure. I have legal guardianship. She doesn't talk yet though 😔 not one single word. I agree with the IUD! Even though my daughter's a adult i made sure her doctor put one in her.

It's not the babies fault. Someone needs to love them and nurture them. It bothers me to see these mothers who act as if everything is okay, when it isn't. These "mothers" need health teaching. Birth control is free to low income women. Including IUD's that can stay in place for up to five years. I don't support the government's decision to house and feed women like them. They do not deserve to not only take from their babies but tax payers as well.... Housing and welfare is for those who are working towards a better future for themselves and their families... in this country, with internet and information so accessible, it's impossible these mothers didn't know better about drug use and pregnancy. I am a retired nurse I worked at the local county facility for a few years on every floor but Ped's was particularly heartbreaking . We had a lot of facility to thrive infants victims of fetal alcohol syndrome but one newborn in particular I will never forget. She just a few weeks old and was withdrawing from heroin as the mother used while pregnant for those of you who don't know withdrawing from drugs is a get wrenching painful process to do this to an unborn child is u forgivable to me it's so sad for the infant I do realize that some meters regret their actions but then there where those who simply couldn't stop the all too consuming habit having more babies and causing heartbreak for these innocent victims .

I'm terrified! My 28 yr old daughter is 35-36 weeks pregnant and has been doing meth, cocaine, and drinking her whole pregnancy. I am an incomplete quadraplegic, even so I would take the baby myself with the help of my husband but I don't know if it is possible? I know that it will not be easy for me or my poor grandchild, I'm only 48 so by the Grace of God the child is alright and God give me the strength of mind, heart and body to care for him or her. My daughter also has 2 more daughters 11 and 4 that she doesn't see. The father has the oldest and the other grandmother has custody of my 4 yr old from a different father. This baby is from yet another man who is the meth dealer, and he wonders why she can't quit! My daughter already has a CPS case from her 4 yr old, and a bench warrant for public intoxication and she thinks that having the baby in a different county will make a difference. Just wanna put this out there into the world, before someone judges one of these mothers. Many times they do have an opportunity to get clean. But I personally knew a woman whom tried detoxing once she found out she was pregnant. She was basically homeless and did not know she was pregnant. When she discovered this she tried detoxing. She was then told by a doctor that continuing to withdraw would KILL her child. Now, this does sound like a "user's excuse", but I saw this woman trying. I saw her withdrawing. And I'm 99% sure she didn't make it up. And was told later on that it is absolutly true that withdraw can lead to miscarriage. But then again, so can drug use. Mind you, this was heroin and not meth, but it almost seemed doctors were more comfortable dealing with it once the baby was out of the womb. So before judging one of these mothers, maybe just instead feel sorry for their circumstances, their babies circumstances, and hope they're alright, and do what you can to ensure both are healthy. Which doesn't uncle tearing the mother down. I'm not ignorant to the fact that many women find out very early on and continue to use selfishly. But I know of at least one confirmed case where a woman didn't know she was pregnant whilst using, and only found out at round 3.5 to 4 months. Which puts the person in an incredibly difficult situation. Which the last thing they need is to be torn apart and bashed. Support is what they need.
