The origin of Thepla is Gujarat and It is their staple diet. Theplas are healthy and are great to carry in lunch boxes, while trekking, traveling Or eat at home. You can find some minor variations in thepla in most of the Gujarati households.
Difference between theplas & parathas : To make theplas, vegetables and spices are added directly in the dough and kneaded together whereas parathas are made by stuffing the filling of vegetables.
Shelf Life of Thepla : Theplas will last for 15 days and perfect to carry when you travel by plane or train and then store in the refrigerator.
Ingredients:
Wheat flour - 1& 1/2 cup
Besan flour - 1/4 cup
ginger garlic chilli paste
coriander powder - 1/2 Tsp
red chili powder - 1/2 Tsp
ajwain - 1/2 Tsp
salt
fenugreek leaves - 1&1/2 cup
Dried fenugreek leaves - 1 Tbsp
Ghee /Oil
