It is very important that you hear and remember the last bit he mentioned. It takes a LOT of time and training to do this right. Just thinking of past events can be dangerous. To do this safely one must use sense-memory not just memory. If this doesn't make sense then I recommend studying with someone who can train you properly.

Omg this just made it so easy wtf.. As i watched this video i just tried, but i have lived a pretty happy life so i couldn't figure out a memory that would make me cry. So i made up a memory which was fake but i made my brain believe it was real and i started getting tears. Omg it's so cool what you can actually force your brain to do.

Hello Mr.Timoney, im a student of the method and i have a question. I have been practicing the coffee cup sense memory exercise for the past few weeks about every day 10 minutes on each sense. Today i finally tried the memory recall procedure going through the senses i experienced at the time in anticipation to bring me back to that moment and to get me upset. I did end up recalling certain things but not to where i felt as if "i was there" and i felt in a way blocked. And i couldn't recall the smell of that environment, what is my issue do you think? I also did the relax procedure before i did the sense memory.

It takes time. You need to do the full progression of sense memory exercises before attempting emotional memory. They train the instrument in preparation for emotional memory. It could take as long as a year to go through the progression to get to emotional memory.

Hey, its been 3 years since you posted this comment, I am currently in University studying acting and we are working on Stanislavski's system, for some reason I really struggle with emotional memory.I didn't have an easy life and I could easily draw a lot of memories out of me but for some reason I just feel blocked and num to emotions, have you found anything that works for you over this 3 years?

I don’t agree with it but I will use it if I’m having trouble getting emotional for a certain scene. 95% of the time I will use my imagination.

Write it down multiple times. Record yourself saying it and listen back to it. Take the big lines that are hard to learn and just learn small parts of it until you can bind them back together. Hope these tips helped
