It's a damn shame that this only happens in black music! A 14 y.o white kid knows about ozzy Osborne or guns and roses honestly we are our biggest enemy.

Black music is treated like being trendy. It’s not valued for long amounts of time, hip hop that is

19 year old white kids aren't going to a concert to listen to ozzy ozbourne my guy.

Hey, loser, first off, ozzy isn't touring anymore. Plus, that wasn't the point. The point was they know the music, and any man that says my guy is a pole sucker

@@Semajjame5 not just hip hop, it's r&b too that this happens to.

This happens because of the crossover effect. There’s so many new listeners that didn’t have parents listening to the same genre.

It's not really an age thing. It more of a glaring truth that parents don't spend as much time with their children. My parents used to play what was crackin' during their era all the time

That’s true but also some of the music from the 90s especially hip hop should not be played around kids. I was born in 95 so my parents music growing up was not as “explicit” so it was nothing for them to play 70s, 80s tunes and for the most part 90s r&b but 90s hip hop…shiddd I had to discover that on my own.

Yeah but would your parents go to a rap concert with you when you were 20?

This is what happens when the people handling the booking are out of touch with actual programming they do

Crazy Method Man & Red Man would've got mad love if thet performed in California, The youth still bumps 90's & early 2000's music we different out here 🌴

Summer Jam ain’t for the 90’s rappers anyway. Now the Roots PicNic had that mix of all eras of hip hop!! Summer Jam is strictly for the kids at this point.🤦🏾‍♂️

Your average hip-hop listeners' opinion is based on fitting-in/acceptance and what they would play on the aux in front of girls and their friends.

The young crowd at these shows 50% don't even realize what HIP-HOP really is....50% of "music" is noise, wrapped in garbage

My friend told me he went to pine knob to see Dave Matthews and said it was so depressing bc it was just a bunch of 40 Year olds with their kids trying to get them into it 😂

Same problem thats been around for years, fans from that era just simply dont go out to shows. They only did when they were popular, diehards and serious fans are few and far between

These vets had some packed, damn near sold out shows for their own shows. Summer Jam is really for younger kids now that don't know the music as well from artists like Nas, Wu Tang, Redman, LOX

Real fans should Be doing the research but nobody is really about their craft or true fans of anything now.. just a lot of copy & paste culture.. one person likes it, everyone does.. and never dive deep into the subject to look at more than face value.. not looking into older artists and looking at the roots.. no exploring, not curiosity.. it’s sad.. I even seen it amongst my own peers (being only in my mid/late 20’s) and now the youth is just completely lost
