So by using excel you can change the location of the load of the 10kN by moving it on the second matrix and it will then solve the load from said joint

This approach will work only for statically determinate truss. What about undetermined truss?
@DRabvyas5 жыл бұрын
Correct. One would have to use different method for statically indeterminate trusses. I do not intend to make that video as there were already few videos out there for statically indeterminate trusses when I had uploaded this video.

Not sure. Maybe you have two rows that are nearly identical or one is multiple of other.

@@prasads56 Your matrix entry/calculations are in error or that your truss is defective. Sorry, I cannot help you more at this juncture, and advise you to consult with your instructor.

did you have a reference for this problem that i can use
@DRabvyas7 жыл бұрын
No, I created this problem myself. However, if you are looking for a recommendation, I recommend the textbook, Engineering Mechanics: Statics, 2nd edtion by Plesha, Gray, and Costanzo (McGraw-Hill).

Dear Mr Anand... What happen if the matrix is singular? What do we have to do?
@DRabvyas5 жыл бұрын
If matrix is singular, either you have an error in your calculations, or that your truss is statically indeterminate. If the latter is true, the truss can no longer be assumed to be rigid, and concepts of deformation of the member will have to be employed (which is typically beyond the scope of a course in Statics/Engineering Mechanics at most universities). Hope this helps.

@@DRabvyas Thank you so much for your help... It helps me a lot. I made a mistake in my calculations, I could solve the system. I would like to ask if I can use this method in or order to calculate a Tridimensional Truss? Do I have to chance only the size of the matrix?
@DRabvyas5 жыл бұрын
@DIEGO QUIZANGA For a 3-D truss (assuming it is not statically indeterminate), you have 3 equations at each joint resulting from the static force balance. An example of such a problem is to be found in the textbook on Statics by Plesha, Gray, and Costanzo , 2nd edtion, page 402 (McGraw-Hill publication). You can use the matrix method in that case as well, except that matrix will have more variables (so more rows and columns)

Mr.Anand how exacly did you got the stiffnes matrix?
@DRabvyas9 жыл бұрын
Erdoan Musatfov Thank you for your interest and question.This is not stiffness matrix, just coefficient matrix resulting from the force balance equations at each joint of the truss without regard for material properties.

@@DRabvyas sir. Which method is efficient for solving trusses by using excel?
@DRabvyas3 жыл бұрын
@@ZulTakHensem Depends on what you need to determine. If it is force in very few members, you are better off using method of sections. On the other hand, if you need to find forces in all members, use method of joints. If you need to tinker around with how change in loading will change forces, use the matrix method shown here. For anything else (like stresses and strains), it is best to use Finite Element Analysis based methods.

Thank you for the question. Yes, provided that the truss is statically determinate and the static equilibrium equations in 3-D are deduced correctly.
@tharunsankar49264 жыл бұрын
oh definitely, just define your origin point, the angles associated by it. But note that you might have to do some Euler Rotations to obtain the global matrix like what Anand did. (You could avoid all of it by picking the right origin axis)
