Indeed. That is the best use of a good camera to add visual support for your explanation, whereas most KZbin personalities will simply talk ad nauseum to make a point. Some people are visual learners (I live with one) and it can be challenging to verbally articulate in a manner that they understand. Well done, sir!

It's cool that they finally came out with this design because the trick I would use was I would use a wire wheel to to scuff the bead area on the rim all the way around it's circumference in the direction of rotation which in theory is the same thing they have done with this design but in a more aggressive manner. The only downfall I see is if the tire has to be removed from the rim after having several several 1000 miles on it to do a proper patch repair is that it might damage the rubber covering the bead cable when removing the tire from the bead.😖💁♂️

It does damage the tire, I had a tire shop struggle for an hour and a half tryna remove one tire off one of these bead grip wheels, it almost works “too well”. I call method and they said well just keep trying before the tire shop finally gave up and said can’t do it won’t do it go somewhere else

@RogueOverland2 жыл бұрын
It really comes down to how low you are going to run the pressure. In hard packed sand you can get away with higher pressure but in really soft sand we will often run 8-10 PSI. It also depends on how much side to side pressure will be on the tire. The lower the air pressure and the more side to side force on the tire (trying to push it off the bead) then the more helpful these wheels should be.

I guess this is where a fake beadlock ring shines. Instead of destroying those brand new wheels, you just replace the beadlock ring. Looks like all the damage occurred right where a ring would have been positioned. I'm not saying the dings are bad per se, I know some people like to show off their battle scars. But if that's the damage after just one outing, I'd sure love to see what those pretty bronze wheels look like in 1 year. Probably won't be so bronze anymore.

@@RogueOverland It would be interesting to have the wheels checked on the balancer before the tires, new or old, are mounted. That would be the real test of how true and balance they are. Then trow the tires on and go from there. Super important to use the right cone as well. Old off road tires with chunk missing from use and abuse won't ever be perfectly balanced - they aren't race track tires right!
