In one of the paragraphs, the answer says unstructured interviews are inflexible? Isn't that referring to structured? which is in the title of the question.

Do u need to explicitly say ‘as stated in the item’ because this student did not do that but still managed to get full marks?

I think its better to mention 'as stated in the item' or 'the item connotes that' just to be safe, better safe than sorry.

This was very helpful, thank you! But this answer seemed to only focus on the limitations rather than also the strengths. I've been told to include 2 strengths and 2 limitations and then a conclusion suggesting whether the method is useful or not to investigate that particular issue and suggest another method if not.

Hi, if you are in context then they will tend to be limitations. Start with the strengths of the method, then apply the context, but there will be very few strengths of the method IN A SCHOOL because of things like, only pro-school students taking part, language barriers, timetabling issues, students suffering from peer pressure, etc. Does that make sense?

Hi, this was a sample answer given from AQA. However, I would always advise a brief conclusion to whether the method was appropriate to study the given context. :-)

You get the marks by applying to the context in the question. So not essential to apply to studies. The skill is application

This question you get marks for how well you apply you knowledge of the method (strengths and weakness) applied to the context. You may get a question of a context and method where you might not have studied a particular sociological piece of research. The combinations are far too great! It is challenging a different skill set. SO, NO, you don't need sociologist in this one! ;-)

Hi, this was from an official AQA student answer. From experience of marking, conclusion not necessary on a methods in context. BUT you MUST have one on the 30 mark education essay to reach top band.
