This is a topical video. I was sitting around in my drum circle, trying to balance my chakra with a crystal and a Bic lighter, when one of my circle sisters said that I was "flubby". Being naked except for the shaman paint, I took a karmic hit for putting a mental "Bitch" out into the universe. Then she/he/they/them/it said it was my Djembe that was "flubby". Again, a "Bitch" was once again launched into the cosmic collective, much to my shame. Then she pointed to my drum and the universe was once again safe for traveling. Now, thanks to this video, my karma is once again as it should be, and aside from some minor burns, so is my chakra. Thank you.

Hey Brad, this is John in Bali. FYI Those usually come from Bali and Java. I often export those drums to Calif, Florida and Hawaii. That carving is typical of shops north of Ubud Bali. ✌️

I have one of these, bigger than your mini version.. It is built in a similar way with string tensioners over a hand formed ceramic drum body. Thanks for the tips on how to tune up the drum head. 👍👍

The dudes from Senegal I knew from the store were good humored guys too. I learned to retune these drums from them. Before that I never even considered it was possible.

I've never been into Primus, but saw them 2 years ago with Mastodon. They played a great show, with the best part being a 30 minute jam about goblins. The only thing that would have made it better is Brad on djembe.

I heard you can warm the head to loosen it temporarily to make it easier to manipulate the timing cord. After the head cools the pitch will go up nicely. You did a great job without that method and it sounds great for that sticker price.
@TheGuitologist4 жыл бұрын
That's correct. And they will change tuning with the temperature and humidity.

I went to a drum village in Uganda, they had some as huge as a whiskey barrel! I bought a snare type drum made from steel, it's really nice. It doesn't have a snare on it, but I rigged one up with some springs from a mechanical pencil... sounded alright!

how cool a gem be drum! Yeah you know for most of my musical life I was a professional drama I just picked up the guitar to learn how to write so arms because I didn't like writing songs for drums only lol. Anyway I got I moved out to the to the sticks on Long Island and started to play a jumpy drum that somebody had left me period before I knew what everyone was asking me to play it was great I was playing all over the place and yeah I got really really good at it love percussion love drums period and it was the first time I ever played a gym beach around. It's amazing how much you can do with a drum like that just one drum period finding different techniques and stuff how to hit the skin I was never never learned how to play any instrument through lessons or teaching you know what being taught. I just sat down when I was about 17 18 years old I bought a used four piece drum set sat down and played it and I could play it I guess I look at it actually from all the years that I played air drums literally I really believe that was how and the same thing with guitar but I was much better at drums than the guitar and that's still the case. Anyway it's great to get all these different videos from you different things Brad so thanks again probably one long sentence if you don't like it go take it out on your guitar LOL sincerely us, Bob the blind bedroom guitarist

Did you know, if you put your hand in the vent hole, the tone drops! You can use this effect to great dramatic effect by carry the drum with strap or cord over shoulder, and play skin with one hand ( keep the gutter thoughts out of your mind) and the other hand in and out of the hole ( REALLY now, nice thoughts only!!) to change the pitch as you tap away...

Dude have you ever heard of Joe Pass? Check ✅✔️ him out look up Joe Pass Ain't Misbehaving. He's on some show Joe is a half bald guy it looks to be around 1977 but the the guy finger picks playing Jazz. You know how Jazz has like weird chord changes. It's got some of that. His clean tone is so warm I found Django Rinehart also. He has a thumb and pointer finger and good ol bird finger. He rips to. I like checking out all kinds of music it's all amazing. Sometimes I get lucky and find someone awesome. Worked out I found 2 Django is French we. I couldn't understand what they were saying. If you haven't heard of them. Do your self a favor. Do! Oh my goodness that Joe Pass had some great tone. Anyway. Your channel rocks as usual👍🏻. Be cool. Keep bending `em strings!

G'day, Brad! Enjoyed the video! By the way... What’s the difference between a guitar and a fish? You can’t tuna fish! Explanation: Tuna fish? No, tune - a - fish. You see, for a guitar to sound good, you have to tune it. A fish cannot be tuned… but there is a fish called a tuna fish. This joke is funny because “tune a” sounds like “tuna.” Lol! 🤣 Cheers! 😊✌🏻❤️

Hey brad is there any way you can tell me what guitar they’re using in this song I think it’s a 12 string but I’m not sure m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/qX2lZaxneNhsj9E. And also what style of playing that is the genre is corridos it’s a Mexican
@TheGuitologist4 жыл бұрын
12-string guitar or possibly a charango, which is a South American, Andean stringed instrument with dual string courses.
@TheGuitologist4 жыл бұрын
It might also be a 12-string requinto.

Oh, Brad, no no no no no. That's not a djembe. That's a curio store knick knack. Real djembes are much larger and cranked much higher. They're also part of the classification of "talking drums,' meaning that specific strokes express specific syllables, and that you're forming words when you play rhythmic patterns on them. Not an instrument to be trifled with.
@TheGuitologist4 жыл бұрын
Djembes aren’t talking drums. Talking drums have string tensioner you hold under your arm and change pitch as you drum. And I also have a large djembe.
