Don't get me wrong I love Ron Perlman but I think that Peter was the best choice. And that Ron got to play a certain aspect of methos later was awesome. But the real Methos showing up just make sure that the fake one wasn't pulling something and wasn't trying to hurt young Immortals was important. Methos being ready to just peace out when he realized that the fake m wasn't a bad man was cool though. Pearlman's version was misguided but not a bad man. It would have been nice if the type of world that he would have liked to have lived in was real, he paints a nice picture not realistic but nice.

It's interesting to see how they developed the personality of someone living in his prime for over 50 centuries. Even the other older immortals stand out, personality-wise. As I watch this scene again and again, I think Pearlman's charactor may have suspected that the man he met was the original Methos. The body language of each charactor in this scene is interesting, especially when it comes to eye contact: One distances himself from the other by looking away, but then the dynamic reverses as the discussion gets deeper, until both look each other straight on. Does the second "Methos" truely believe he is the original? Highly unlikely. Instead, he may be an immortal who has indeed lived for several thousand or more years, perhaps just shy of the real Methos' 5000 year record. By taking on the new name "Methos", this man would carry on the legacy of the original - similar in principle to how, in the Princess Bride, the title of "The Dread Pirate Roberts" would be secretly past down from the current Captain of the 'Revenge' to a worthy successor. Of course, the original Methos never passed down his name to this person - it was adopted by the man, most likely thinking that the real Methos died long ago. Perhaps by his smile at the end of their discussion, Methos 2 finally understood that Methos 1 was alive and well. Even if he himself should die, Methos 1 would continue to live.

@@lordoffaiyum9727 how do you figure? The producers of the show missed a golden opportunity in my opinion to continue the series on a far more positive and realistic in my opinion light. The idea that Immortals could form a sort of core spiritual element of the human race sounds extremely intriguing to me, probably because I believe that humanity is ultimately good. However, the producers of the show seem to be caught in the violence for the sake of violence Paradigm so common on Commercial television. It seemed to me Methos was in this particular scene aware of his own emptiness of spirit at just surviving and not really trying to do anything with any higher goal.

Darius is a big loss to not only Immortals but to mortals as well. Darius is a man with heart and character. There is another Immortal, somewhat like Darius named Sean Burns, sadly Duncan MacLeod took Sean's head while under the influence of a Dark Quickening. Sean Burns was a good friend of MacLeod just like Darius.

@@mikevanroy9356 the entire myth is based on Methuselah, who stole the secret of fire from heaven and gave it to human beings who therefore used it to refine metal to make weapons to kill each other with. I guess Immortals are a curse upon the human race, and I don't exactly understand all the metaphysics involved LOL but the concept of severing the spinal cord with refined steel seems to have some symbolic meaning cuz unless the spinal cord and the skull are severed no matter how bad the degradation to the body is, through the metaphysical thing whatever it is LOL the body will just reform the same way it was. I see speculation a lot on whether Methos actually remembers his age. Did you know that, a little more than 5000 years ago, the Sumerians started using a calendar system? Seems awfully suspicious to me. I personally think he only started counting in "years" when humanity did. (I'm not a historian, that's just what google tells me. Anyone offended by my ignorance please correct, yeah?)

a lot of what he says DOES imply something like that for sure. When he talks about his "diary" for insance he says smthg like "well, since writing began anyway"...and it's been a while but I do certainly rememebr that his REAL age was never actually known for certain, doesn't he tell duncan that he just remembers from when he took his first HEAD? Although...there was that cartoon that explored methos' early (was it pre-immortal?) life in egypt...

I think there's a scene somewhere in the show where somebody makes the "5000 year" remark, and his response is something like "that's as far back as I remember" implying the "5000 year" thing is just when the written records or his memory begin.

Actually, Methos mentioned once that he 'took his first head around 5000 years ago, anything before that was a blur" implying that he only started remembering his life when he took his first quickening. He could be hundreds of years older than 5000.

I doubt he counts in years, tbh. He just sort of remember which "era" he came from. As to when he started using diares, who knows. You'd think having room for 5000 years of diaries written would suck. I suppose he goes in cycles. Like when he reaches a few hundred years he notes the amount of years in a new diary and discards the old ones.

I had a dream that I met Methos last night. I was in a prison, but an elaborate prison with many wonders. When I attempted to jog in the yard, I lost gravity and floated to the ceiling. There were multiple chambers and multiple walks of life. I was confused the entire time and didn't know where to go. When I met Methos, I said, "you're Methos." "Yes," he responded, "you'll learn to like it here." The prison guards were servants. Anything you wanted you could have. I must have been in heaven.

If Kronos had met this guy, I imagine he would've walked away much like Methos did; only he would've been laughing his balls off. I read somewhere that Kronos was the adoptive father and mentor to Rebecca. If true, then maybe he sought Methos out not only for a reunion but also to see if he could force Methos or one of his other brothers to kill him. Maybe by challenging the whole world, one might be able to finally end him. If he had truly been the monster they portrayed for thousands of years then he wouldn't have survived so long or gone so unnoticed. Likely when Duncan first met him in the 1800's and in modern day, he just fell off the wagon so to speak.

Gotta make ya think, Richie likely said something to him about meeting the real Methos off screen, and that's probably what the whole conversation of Richie thinking he was pissed at him in the scene in his yard was all about. And also judging by the look on his face in that scene with Richie, he's thinking (pondering if you will) wait a minute, Richie just met Methos today, meaning he's here, now. That immortal earlier who didn't give me his name. Did I really come face to face with Methos? But he's not real. I assume Pearlman's character is intelligent enough, it wouldn't be too difficult for him to put 2 and 2 together on that one. Especially since there's 3 immortals already there that he knows of being Richie, MacLeod, and Culbraith. Then Richie comes to him with a story of MacLeod introducing him to the real Methos, and there was another immortal he spoke to who was mockingly asking him questions about Cleopatra and Socrates and whom he was unable to identify.

The whole idea that anyone is simply good or evil is nonsense, or the idea that good always triumphs over evil. Evil wins its fair share of battles though it seldom if ever conquers. Also some of the worst crimes in human history have been committed by people who called themselves "righteous" (the Inquisition is a good example) and even the worst dictators and monsters in human history were not entirely incapable of mercy (even fucking Hitler was known to have written some of the worlds first animal rights laws). No matter what philosophy you follow, if you are a Judeo-Christian, a follower of Mohammad, a Buddhist, or you have your own sense of honor and ethics - there is no such thing as a perfect human being and there is a great deal of grey area between good and evil.

Disagree. Yes, no one is perfect, and people can & do change. But there is a lot less grey area than you think between good & evil. Many of the world's religions promote the same values -- truth, justice, fairness, compassion. Yes, many times religious leaders are corrupt, and many times religious adherents are hypocritical fakes, but their deeds are eventually recognized for what they are. You won't find Catholic leaders praising the hordes of innocents killed during the Inquisition or the Crusades. You won't find American Protestants praising the Salem Witch trials. You won't find many American Protestants praising slavery or Jim Crow (although there are still a sizable minority of scum doing so, but give it time). Interesting that religions from all over the world and from different times tend to promote the same values.
