I have been taking MB 40mg per day for 4 months after listening to Dr.Francisco Gonzalez-Lima. Gradual improvements over that time have been, improved sleep quality and much improved cognitive function in the area of maintaining my attention on a task. I am 69 and work full time and my occupation requires my full and complete attention for extended periods. Prior to using MB, I was considering retirement but now I am back to working well with full attention.

Thank you for this great resource and also the helpful comments. I began experimenting with MB probably 6 months ago. For many weeks I took only 4-5 drops every day (64 yrs old/175lbs). That is a very low dose but it was enough to help me to begin to move forward from the grief of losing my lovely wife to cancer after 42 years of marriage and children. It seemed to help with my mental and emotional energy when engaging in conversation during social interactions. I also drive a lot in my work, and sometimes all day. I would take 4 drops just before a long drive and noticed that it helped me to remain more alert without the need for stimulants. For now, I don’t take it every day. But I’ve taken it twice during the past week just before some all day drives and still impressed with it. So glad to have found it. Hope this helps someone.

I've been taking it in 3-4 drop dosages twice per day, for the last couple of days. I have struggled a LOT with quitting drinking, and I've struggled with substance use in the recent past, especially during extremely stressful times. Last night I found out we lost my uncle, with whom I connected more than most in my fairly large family. I've been worried that I'm going to have to fight my worst tendencies, but I haven't had nearly the strong cravings for substances and alcohol that I would have just a few weeks ago. Idk what it's worth, but it's very very surprising how well it is helping my stability in mentally stressful times. I'm looking forward to this MB journey.

The alertness you get from MB is because it increases your blood pressure and heart rate. You might want to experiment by taking your BP when tired and then after taking the MB. It could cause you to stroke out if your BP gets too high, bad diet and multiple vax can be a major contraindication to taking MB. I wish you good health and healing after your loss❤

I would like to present my own version about MB. 1. Low dose is beneficial, high dose can be toxic. Start with 2 drops gradually increase to 10 -20 drops according to how your body reacts and your body weight. 2. Check long list of drugs that can cause side effects with MB before taking MB. 3. Consider enhancing energy production with MB plus near infrared light therapy. 4. Drop MB in some juice, chasing down with water to avoid blue stain and bad taste. 5. This is not a natural nutrient. Use it as needed. Take breaks from MB from time to time.

The contraindications are SSRI's (Serotonin uptake antidepressants) as MB increases Serotonin and Dopamine on it's own and can cause Serotonin syndrome, which can be deadly - but would have to take very high dose of MB for that to happen. Have read very low dose has been given along with SSRI's - but recommended to get off of them. It's easy to google drugs that are contrary to MB as many drugs can elevate your Serotonin. i.e. had no clue that things like Codeine (and other pain killers) elevated Serotonin. The other is a G6pd (Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) deficiency. This is an inherited condition where your body doesn't have enough of an enzyme called G6PD. This enzyme helps red blood cells work properly. A lack of this enzyme can cause hemolytic anemia. This is when the red blood cells break down faster than they are made. So, it is important to have this cheap blood test to see if you have it, as MB can heighten this situation. That's all the extremes I've read about, but I'm not a doctor, just a researcher.

@@glenmonks1contradictory meds come down to serotonin reuptake inhibitors. There is a small risk of developing serotonin syndrome with concurrent use with MB. But low dose MB combined with normal dose sris isn’t really going to pose a problem. But like they always say “check with your doctor”.

I started looking into methylene blue sometime ago. I was nervous to take it, and I ended up contacting Dr Gonzalez, who was very helpful. I have been taking it daily for months and months and see no particular downsides. It’s certainly has increased energy. And it seems to have helped a healing tooth abscess which was rather nastily infected. My mother suffers with cognitive impairment, and I’ve been microdosing her and it seems to be having quite a remarkable effect. Of course, these are just personal anecdotes. In my mother’s case, she doesn’t even know what I’m giving her so it can’t be Placebo.

I have had the same experience. Mom and Dad have experienced the same. My son did to. Same with my best friend.... And my son's PCA. But some who I shared it with didn't respond as well. This video explains why. I don't think Chris has direct experience treating with it. This removes some bias that I have. I'm not hearing him talk about low low doses, which most people I know that benefit are using. I'm talking 1 to 7.5mg, not the doses in the studies, which I think is too high for most people.

@@LeapOfFaaaith I’ve been doing it for so long that I couldn’t quite remember the milligram dosage to I tend to use so I checked. Mostly I take it once a day and recently I’m taking 15 mg 30 drops. You’ve made me think about it I’m going to half the dose today and see if I notice anything. I know it’s a completely different subject, but a friend of mine who has had issues surrounding a certain treatment given to everybody recently has been using a protocol that includes naltrexone. Specifically, low-dose naltrexone. It appears that this is not the therapeutic dose for which the drug was designed, but in this low dose has profound effects different from the full dose. All very interesting. I have to say I would need to go back and research again, but Chris asserts that methylene blue does not directly donate electrons into the electron transport chain. At least I think that’s what he said. I have no education in this field, I only understand it superficially. But I have listened to a lot of people who treat patients with this and researchers who assert that it definitely does improve the functionality of the electron transport chain at least if I have not misunderstood.

OK. been researching this, and doing some experimentation based on that. heres what I think is the best way to use methylene blue. 5 to 10 drops 2x a day in a glass of water in one of the doses, add 1 mg of ascorbic acid. freaking magic I tell you. basically methlyne blue upgrades mitochondria function and the vitamin C also does so. the C mixed w blue reacts to become anhydrous, which allows it to pass the blood/brain barrier. so it's getting a key antioxidant into a place that normally just does not get much. I saw significant lift in brain fog in 2 days of use. all sorts of good improvements. this is a long term supplementation type of use, not a medical intervention. trickle charge but keep it going, seems to be a superior way to really improve these things. i have been using home health treatments for several years to recover from colon cancer, and a host of other things. ive found some powerful recovery tools but this might be the most beneficial, just for what it's upgrading...

Good for you! Great info. Do you use DMSO at all or CDS? I've been using it for 2 years at 50-80 drops a day. I cycle off for a few weeks or so and go back on. I DEFINITELY notice a difference when I'm off for a couple weeks vs on it. I also have MANY metabolic genetic mutations, luckily not the one that would cause issues with Methylene Blue.

If you're searching for a healthy substitute for benzo there're many alternatives to try if mb doesn't work, eg: Kava, Nigella Sativa, Ashwagandha, Lithium Orotate, L-Teanine, Taurine, Inositol, Chamomille.

The main reason there’s a contraindication with MB and SSRIs is because of a theoretical rat study of upwards of 8 mg per kilogram of body weight and higher which interacted with SSRIs and increased serotonin capable toxicity levels. MB is at low dosage a very safe alternative to the massively negative side effects causing pharmaceutical SSRIs of today. Great information overall dock. Well done being more comprehensive than anybody’s video I’ve seen on methylene blue! 👏👏👏

Please people if you’re on SSRIs do not take this stuff. It will not degrade serotonin as the enzyme is blocked and you might die from too much serotonin. And if not you will be extremely miserable.

The FDA put a warning out for this because it's used for things like CO poisoning and lymphatic dye. These were IV doses so probably more than you'll take but I would be very wearing since tramadol is also an ssri. Taper off the garbage pharma and hit the MB to help withdrawal after you're off

I almost certainly have mitochondrial damage that I need to work to heal, maybe from mold, maybe from SARS-CoV-2, maybe from both. How long have you been taking it? I started with 2 drops and felt like falling asleep. The next day i tried 7 drops at 4pm. Felt really great but had a hard time falling asleep. I also experienced cold hands after the 7 drops. After reading about how it inhibits Nitric Oxide, which could inhibit blood flow, I have been nervous to keep taking it. I have been trying to keep a good blood flow profile at my age of 64, and this seem counterproductive. It did make me feel good in the brain though! Darn!

Completely agree. Beyond the age of 50 practically everyone has damaged mitos. And yes it should be very low dose. As kind of a reference: PQQ is dosed at around 20mg, given MBs role 5..50% of that seems feasible as a max, which would be 1..10mg, , which is roughly 2..20 drops

I have occasional headaches and I don’t feel energetic per se but I feel like my body is working through some toxins (it detoxifies, right?). I take 7.5 mg in tablet with vitamin c included. I purchased it off a so called reputable source with the documentation but it was off of Amazon and didn't want to mess around since the price seemed a little to good to be true. Seems that high purity MB is rather pricey. Didn't want to mess with my health in possibly consuming any heavy metals. Where have you sourced your MB from I am curious?

I have been taking MB 30 mg per day for over 6 months and am very senior in age. I experience increased energy, work capacity, and cognitive function. I work full time and study. I have just started C60 in extra virgin olive oil daily, and am getting out my near infra red light Wellbeam device again. I also take fisetin. I would recommend you add BORON to what you're taking. Boron is crucial for fighting fungal infections and most people only get about half of what they should. In the United States, Boron levels along the Atlantic Coast and the Pacific Northwest and even worse. So any food grown in those areas will have even less BORON than average. My suggestion would be 6 milligrams/day. You do NOT want to go over 9 milligrams/day. I should mention that I did have a fall recently and my balance has been off lately. It was weird, I turned to walk down the stairs and twisted my ankle. I couldn't react, kinda like those mice that couldn't move/react. I am MAOA/COMT. I am 90 kg and dose at 50 drops per day. At .5 mg/ drop, that's 25 mg/day.

@@tommyortiz6623 yeah, it's not good for the stomack. If you ever use it use it watered down to the point where it's tasteless. I'd say it something for adults to use (18 and up). Until then give your son some sulphorophane (broccoli extract) and also try some healing mushrooms like coriolis, hericium and cordiceps. All those i felt did me good. Hope that helps.

@@tommyortiz6623 some voices suggest autism could be a chronic inflammation of the brain so looking into inflamation reducing diet could also help. This is also likely why MB works so well because it is such a strong antioxidant. For children there are natural antioxidants available like linseed and honey. Reducing inflamation causing foods in the diet is the number 1 step every autist should do to improve in my opitnion. It doesn't have to be 100% but just make sure you're not feeding vast amounts of white bread and noodles to the kid. Potatoes and rice are better.

I screwed around with MB for a while because I have history of concussion and chronic insomnia. One of the interesting things I saw in regular bloodwork is, even in small dosing, it would consistently knock down my elevated creatinine and BUN.

NOS inhibitor .. helps my ADHD phenomenally. People with adhd have high levels of nitric oxide in the brain MB is supposed to block nitric oxide. Also a recent study in Israel directly links high nitric oxide levels in the brain with ASD .. so maybe worth looking into that connection .

This is interesting. I think it’s fair to raise alarms and questions. However, I have seen many a very intelligent person explain (and publish) why this or that drug/supplement will do this or that for this or that chemical/biochemical reason. They are always highly intelligent and have good reasoning. However, the human body is an extraordinarily complex system. It specializes in defying understanding and expectations. This video is long on theory based in chemistry and short on evidence. So it’s interesting and worth noting, for sure. But nothing to take to the bank.

I've been dealing with long covid like CFS and POTS for a few years now and MB is one of the few thigns that consistently restores my energy levels to my pre-infection energy levels and brain clarity. I'm 35 and have no other health conditions. I take 50mg a day as a 220lb male. I appreciate your perspective on a drug that clearly has complex pharmacodynamics as well as the alternative ways to treat various conditions.

I am currently looking to buy methylene blue as a daily supplement. I am 34 and I always have been full of energy, for a couple of months I have been feeling tired and have noticed a significant decrease in my short and long-term memory (the other day couldn't remember the name of a colleague I had around for a year). I have been to the doctor and they did a blood test - they said that I have perfect health. Started to look for supplements and stumbled upon MB - I will definitely give it a shot. I understand the risks, from what I have read and I feel like it's worth giving a shot. regarding your explanation - you need to talk to an average Joe here on YT, not PhD graduate - I couldn't distill why exactly I shouldn't try it orally. In your example with rats - MB was injected in their brain, but how does it translate to humans taking it orally? Even in your comment section people are praising the MB. Maybe you could do another video where you explain this to less smart people - like me. =) Would truly appreciate that.

Those symptoms sound like mine in the beginning of Lyme disease. I suffered and suffered, went in circles with Drs. Was given the label "Fibromyalgia." What a joke. Then pain issues would come and go. Took years to get a diagnosis which then makes treatment really really difficult. Don't listen to just the first conventional Dr. Seek alternative NDs or Functional. We can always be functioning better not just be "average" on testing. There is science as to why we start to not feel right. Dig deeper.

I have head trauma & lipedema, I know my mitochondria has issues. MB and creatine were the two things that changed everything. I take maybe 5 drops in my morning water, 3 or 4 days a week. Game changer. My autistic son started adding just 3 drops to his morning routine and he noticed a definite thought improvement. There is quite a bit of info out there on the success of micro dosing. I was also not thrilled with the thought that high doses could truly disrupt the microbiome. We've been using it a few months now.

I was wondering, when MB is circulating through a body, certain areas "need" fixing it helps, but for those other parts that did not need it and get harmed, does it stay degraded? Your position regarding the use of an unnatural compound is correct. that's why I use MB. in my case, I use MB 45 mg divided per day (15 and 3x10) in replacement of 10 mg of Adderall. this is the first time that I have found a replacement despite all my trials. I started using methylene blue after being on keto and carnivore diets for years and it gave me great energy better then any other supplements I ever took. When I started adding carbs to my diet I didn’t experience feel much benefits or energy like I did when I first started when on keto.

@@rdallas81 came in dropper bottle I usually took about 5 to 10 drops which is about half milliliter per drop and gave good energy. I took it pretty regularly for about 6 months. The only thing I could compare it too was taking caffeine for the first time as time went on caffeine doesn’t have the same effect. But it wasn’t like a caffeine bump. If you have problems with some complex in your cellular metabolism you will feel the benefits. No supplement I ever took made me feel better. I take every now and then and don’t feel the effects as I did when I first took but I’m guessing my cellular metabolism was wrecked and mb helped fix it

Just wondering if MB could possibly make the liver's texture look different on an ultrasound??? My liver was homogeneous echotexure without any other pathology noted... the radiologist wasn't concerned... at same time he had no explanation as to why liver enzymes elevated... it's not NAFLD... Haven’t seen the video yet but my question was this, just because it helps the mitochondria with its electron flow, does that actually mean this is a long term sustainable product? Most of the videos I have seen on KZbin are very positive about taking MB even those produced by people who I consider to be very responsible individuals. However, your video has caused me to rethink whether I need MB. I am already taking a number of helpful supplements and I do not want to take something that may have some benefits but at the same time be negatively interfering with the complex workings of the mitochondria.

As someone that has greatly benefited from Methylene Blue, I would genuinely encourage you to have a conversation with Dr. Francisco Gonzalez-Lima. I think certain statements in this video needlessly defames a compound that could help many, and the specific concerns raised with regards to MAO-A inhibition and the initial Alzheimer's trial failures have been accounted for by Dr. Francisco Gonzalez-Lima in several podcast appearances. Rhetorically, I could ask you why John Hopkins University continues to administer high dosages of Methylene Blue in surgery to patients on SSRI's? That's despite the FDA black box warning for serotonin syndrome, a warning which Canada for example does not have. Administering a drug in opposition to FDA guidelines is highly unusual considering the litigious prevalence within US healthcare. As you may know with Oxycontin, the FDA can make or break a drug based on black box statements that do not have scientific validity. I have personally taken up towards 1 gram daily for 2 weeks whist being on 30 miligrams of Vyvanse for severe fungal and bacterial infections without any issue. Ramping up to such a high dose, the MAO-A inhibitive effects cannot be mistaken, but only occurred with those dosages in the grams range. I can tell you for a fact that 100 mg's is not maxing out MAO-A inhibition, not even remotely, in fact there is a lull between the lower dosages that acts as mitochondrial enhancers and the MAO-A inhibitive effects that occur in extreme dosages only applicable to certain poisoning or viral, bacterial or fungal infections. This means that the lower dosage contributed more so to an internal glee then the majority of those high dosages in the several 100's of miligrams, probably indicative of the biphasic efficacy of Methylene Blue on mitochondrial function (due to its photosensitising effects), sugessting I was in the mitochondrial poisoning range until I had that unmistakable MAO-A inhibition at the grams threshold. With the regards to the trials conducted with Alzheimer's, I did not see mention of the fact that participants were using the current standard of care medications for neurodegenerative disease concomitantly, which are toxic and were even banned previously in the UK and reinstated for political reasons. Why did TauRx all of a sudden have a succesfull Phase 3 trial of 16 mg's daily off of a simple derivative of leucomethylene blue? Peculiar what can happen when you examine the effects of low dosages with a biphasic drug, without concomitant medical pollutants and with a novel patentable compound of all.

Thank you for such an undertaking. With introductory use of MB , where I did not easily discern any benefit , your explanations (as far as I grasp them) inform my view on M B. The hormetic aspect of MB seems to rule it out as a general support. The specified health indicators are a seperate category . Your argumentation on it's status vis a vis the provenance of natures chosen pathways is reasonable yet the future may be intriguing .

I noticed right away that my sense on smell increased dramatically. I think I take about 15ml. My weight is 208 however it’s dropped from 215 I a week. I have to say when I have a night where I never got enough sleep and feel run down the next morning, Taking a capsule full of MB and a capsule of rhodiola extract gives me either moderate or significant improvement to the point just 1-2 advil can totally nullify any remaining discomfort. I'm going to try putting it on my skin before using my red light. I added ascorbic acid until it turned clear and will add it to my lotion. I'm hoping and praying it will help my edema and plump up my skin. I've been drinking some this last week...2 drops but bumped it up to 6 drops. I'm starting low and slowly increasing it. I haven't noticed anything good or bad except greenish blue urine. If it raises my boood pressure, that will be okay. I usually have low blood pressure.

This was extremely valuable from a research perspective. What's your thoughts from an exercise perspective, could methylene blue be used to augment hydrogen peroxide generation from moderate endurance exercise with proper dosing potentially allowing for a greater stimulus for less work. Given that hydrogen peroxide is already used as a signal for mitochondrial biogenesis. I think you should definitely make a shorter version though

Thanks for the informative video. This is the best material I've seen. The main conclusion of the video is negative and it is very different from the opinion of many people who practically use MB (improvement in short-term and long-term memory is difficult to associate with antidepressant activity. It is also not clear why most people using red light phototherapy and MB together report increased positive changes, despite the increase prooxidant activity (superoxide, MB radical). Do you think it is possible that the combined use of hydrogen (water or inhalation) and MB (production of reduced Methylene White) can neutralize the pro-oxidant negative potential of MB and increase its reducing properties? Probably Methylene white may be a safer and more interesting compound, and besides, it will not stain the oral cavity (it can be easily obtained by reducing MB with hydrogen). I have been taking 1-2 drops of MB 3-4 times per week for over a month. I notice my memory is better. I don't think I ever will take a higher dose. I may get a point where I only take it once a week or once a month. I am 69 years old and from my earliest memories I have paid careful attention to my body. I eat low on the food chain as much as possible. I stay as active as possible, and work to control negative thinking that's the hard one for me. When I introduce something new to my body I always take less than recommenced dose. I desolve most supplements in my mouth to see how quick they absorb if they do not absorb quickly I take it to mean that my body does not want it.

Hydrogen peroxide ointment or a few drops of Tea tree oil for toenail fungus ...3 times per day.

Those dosages are insanely high. I take 0.025mg/kg once every two or three days.

@@Dippmip It depends on the size of your drop and how much MB is in solution. The MB labeling should say how many mg per drop. If a 1% solution = 1 gram in 100 milliliters then 1ml should contain 10mg If one (1) drop (typical dropper) = 0.05ml then there are 20 drops per milliliter. So 10mg / 20 drops per ml = 0.5 milligrams per drop. Basically I consume the equivalent of two drops every other day or so. I judge the cycle based on the color of my urine. I wait until it runs straw yellow before dosing again.

@@propellerhead2000How long did you dose at .1 mg before it turned up in your urine? I just started 0.05.mg yesterday. No change in urine, so I thought the dose might be too low to have that affect.

If I turn OFF KZbin's "Stable Volume" setting, that helps the audio sound of this video. With "Stable Volume" =ON=, the higher frequency distortions make this video very difficult to listen to. With "Stable Volume" =OFF=, the audio sound is still poor, but not so annoying.

Thank you for posting all of this information. It is very helpful in determining the veracity of all the methylene blue hype. The sound quality made it a difficult listen, and i had to rely on the transcript a bit, but the content makes it worth the effort.

Do you have any experience using methylene blue for people that have sickle cell anemia or sickle cell trait? It seems like this might be an issue for those with certain blood disorders

Chris. great presentation thank you. I have heard from two users ...low dose liquid in water for ten days..reported feeling return to numb extremities plus clearing of sinus ...have you heard of similar outcomes? this was not mentioned in your meta analysis I believe

New to MB. Taking 1 X 5mg capsule with my morning coffee. Empty stomach. But after first small meal of the day I feel sick. Nauseous with bloated stomach. Does this improve?.

I'm a woman and MB has been almost a miracle for helping me with various chronic issues, ME/CFS, POTS, and others, but it has shifted my hormone production very quickly and now I am T dominant and my scalp hair is falling out. My Estrogen and Progesterone are way below reference range. I'm trying herbal remedies for this but wondering if something else can be done?

Need to look into Leptin sensitivity. Master hormone, all other hormones downstream from Leptin. No Sense to try to balance each individual ones if Leptin sensitivity is gone. And yes DIM is a Test blocker as per above suggestion.

So more or less DO NOT take C0Q10 while taking methylene blue??? and, should you supplement with Iron when taking Methylene Blue? I’m asking because after taking 20 mg’s of Methylene blue for like 30 days my ferritin levels were VERY low.

Have you thought about the fact fact that Ferritin is meant to be the cells and not in the blood? Therefore if it is not in the blood - it is now, most-likely, in the correct place of ; in the cells ? Is that not common sense?

Awesome Breakdown!! Other than Genetic Defects, and exogenous compounds like Rotenone and Metformin, what diet, environment/lifestyle factors (that you know of) INHIBIT or BLOCK Mitochondrial Complex I?? Mitochondrial Complex II? For example, would it make more sense to take MB during a fasted state vs fed state (besides the impact of ADP buildup) to facilitate mitochondrial function? High fat diet? High iron diet? Etc. Any insights there??
