Narancia's face change is representing every major event happened in his life. 1st his left face covered in shadow representing his eye disease after beaten up by prison guards. 2nd the shadow gone as he join the gang 3rd the shadow is back but now cover his right face, foreshadowing him getting stabed by a fork and also by little feet claw. 4th the shadow dissapear again after meeting the boss arc when he finally act on his own instead just taking orders from buccelati. 5th the shadow now cover his entire face and body, you know, because DEAD.

A few things you overlooked: The opening begins with Giorno, Mista and Trish, the only surviving members of Bruno’s gang. Miata’s chains are placed in a way that evokes prison bars, hinting at his backstory. Trish’s chains are positioned in a helix shape, similar to DNA, teasing at her relation to Diavolo. The inclusion of three chains might be pointing toward her father’s split personality.

The sketchy style Giorno is drawn in when he touches the chain could be a connection to DIO, since that's how he was drawn in Stand Proud. The stand arrow coming from his blood could also be representing how it was Giorno's Jostar blood that gave him his stand but this is just how I see it, if I'm vague I'm not wrong.

Absolutely amazing job on the analysis. The only thing I might add is that both Giorno and Trish are introduced with Cherry Blossoms. Of course as I'm sure you know Cherry Blossoms in Japanese culture mean new beginnings and are tipicly associated with graduation. Since they're both new members to Bruno's Gang I think there's definitely a connection. Also at first I thought the first shots of everyone where meant to represent them before joining the gang. Since we don't see any of their Stands and most if not all the members got their stands when joining Passione. This works with most of them pretty well except Abaccio. However I like your interpretation alot. Once again amazing job on the analysis. Part 5's my favorite Part and I love this opening.

The Narancia scene might be an allusion to the defection of the gang and his stuggle with joining Bruno. The loop of chains are people telling him what to do up until the last moment in yellow where takes the initiative (him having that moment of overlaping himself) to make his own choice to protect Trish: a choice is the one that ultimately ties him to a path that leads to his death. Consequently, his actions that brought him to a clear understanding of himself leaves Fugo in the darkness he knows all too well. His death leaves Fugo shrouded in doubt about Narancia's decision that continues to haunt him up until Purple Haze Feedback. I also think the pallete of his Aerosmith scene might also be a tie to the color pallete most associated with Trish and Spice Girl with the vibrant pinks and yellow accents deepening their parallel, though that might be a stretch on my part.

Two things that I haven't seen anyone mention yet: The stand arrow connects and pulls the chains of fate together, which enforces the idea that stand users are bound by fate and attracted to each other, destined to meet. Giorno's fate comes from his blood, as he is a Joestar/Dio's child.

People don’t seem to mention a specific point about 4:13. JoJo, and many other openings, have a divider between the rest of the opening and the main part, either using lyrics or not. The only other time we’ve seen the same artstyle in the divider is inthis in Stand Proud where we see a pencil-ish close up of DIO. There, it used black and red, giving off a sinister impression since he’s, well, evil. However here, when it represents his son Giorno, they use the colours of green and white, showing him giving life. The close-up on DIO’s eye shows how he’s always watching and monitoring the crusaders, but here we see Giorno’s hand, almost reaching out in order to aid people, showing the differences yet similarities between DIO and Giorno.

Meti, you are the god of jojo op analyses. This analysis is super great. I was already loving it for the first half and when you dropped the second half with the final fight references, especially the blood dripping, I was going insane. Thank you so much for this video!! Two lil fun things I wanna point out: (1) The statue in the first seconds of the opening is likely both a reference to not only Giorno and David but a specific reference to Michelangelo's Slaves sculptures, connecting it even more to the Sleeping Slaves. (2) In Narancia's part, each shot switches the eyes that appear on his face, which I'm guessing is referencing the eye disease that he struggled with, until the last shot where both of his eyes show, possibly representing him having an 'eye-opening experience' during the boat scene and finding a path of his own through Trish (this one might be a bit of a stretch though).

8:05 It’s also in order of deaths from top to bottom (Abbacchio first, then Narancia, then Bruno-technically). Also with Giorno’s bleeding hand in the beginning, it could also reference how he bled his hand to keep track of time to see if Diavolo had skipped it. For future predictions, you could say that they could change it up by showing the blood suddenly skip from a few drops to a lot of drops, just like in the battle.
@guilhermerondifernandes45726 жыл бұрын
Yo Meti, real nice video dude, keep up with the good work! Anyways, in regards to the Narancia scene, from what I got it shows how Narancia's fate was almost the same as his mom's. I think that cause 1. You can see his eyes alternating in the scene (his mom died from an EYE disease just like he almost did later on) and 2. It is a looped scene, always repeating itself (just like fate repeated itself with the eye disease). I actually also did a analysis on the OP in my channel so, well, if you would like to see a different point of view...
@Mrgamedu316 жыл бұрын
It's just my interpretation but I think the fact we see Narancia with only one eye between his shot is a reference to his eye disease

Awesome video I noticed some stuff in the opening as well At about 3:22 in Fugo's part of the opening you can see a Rorschach picture (used for psychological evaluation) in the background splitting his two faces hinting at the two sides of his personality. At 2:56 in Narancia's part his eyes flash between the changes within the chains, I'm too sure what this represents but I bet it has something to do with the eye infection that he got in his backstory At 4:14 When Giorno turns the chains into vines. The animation that they used in that scene for his hand was the same animation that they used for DIO in part 3 symbolizing there connection to each other as father and son This was actually an amazing video I never noticed Rolling Stones or the fact that Bruno changed shades which totally makes sense. I thought it just a scene they threw in there for cosmetics. Boy was I wrong!

Mista surrounded by chains is symbolic of the prison he was sent to for saving the woman, Trish’s descent represents that for now, she is unable to determine her own destiny from now, and the sand head falling is similar to how the man he represents falls. Some chains also represent what bound them (not to fate but to their character's backstories). Mista's chains resemble prison bars, abachio's has his chains flowing backwards from the sands of time, his past, and trish's chains look like DNA, representing her being troubled by wondering how her father was like early on and how she initially resigned herself to any outcome she would've received when she would meet him, just like how she falls helplessly through her roots
@donutguy92286 жыл бұрын
It honesty makes me very upset that they show off trish in the second fucking episode. It’s literally the plot point of the first half of part 5 and they just throw her in. i'd like to add a few stuff from my own interpretation. 1. In the OP, the main gang member order or appearance is always the same: Giorno, Mista, Aba, Narancia, Fugo, and Bruno. The order is also similar with previously released part 5 teaser although Narancia and Aba is swapped. I think this refers to the gang member's order of joining Bruno's group. We know that Giorno joins last and Bruno first, but the rest's order of joining never been confirmed although David Prod. has shown us that Mista joined just before Giorno. Fugo is well known as the Bruno's second in command, and Narancia is kinda recruited by Fugo. I'd also like to add that in 2:07, Trish cuts in after Mista, right before the bust of Aba's dead partner hits the floor (and the drop of the music). I think the bust drop separates the characters that remains in the gang in the end from the character that either dies or leaves. 2. 7:30 i think this Narancia scene can be viewed as Narancia getting smaller and smaller, referring to Formaggio fight.

They really went all out with the hidden foreshadowing on this one. Narancia's chain segment is also favorite part of probably any jojo op. It's just, so fucking pretty.

As always you did fantastic work but I'll give a shot at a few thoughts I had! >w< Girono- has three silhouettes for some reason I think this might have to do with his character growth? Mista- only when mista turns to face us does he lose his face and become a silhouette I that this is more body switch foreshadowing Trish- Falling also adds to how helpless she is until the chains break Abbachio- His silhouette also might be interpreted as he is in handcuffs linked by the same chain of fate Narancia - the light flicks back and forth on his face between chains I think represents indecision once he makes up his mind and joins his friends walking into the light and his death fugo- also has three silhouettes the mirroring also might have to do with him needing to face himself and his stand but instead for now he chose to look away brono- the background becomes more complex with each chain as he walks out the style of giorno reaching for the chains is the same style as dio in stand proud

but the colors inverse when he changes the chains into vines contrasting him to his father trish hiding under a blanket also represents her hiding her true self from the gang with her false persona. she looks up representing her revealing her fears and a of bit of herself to bruno her expression also becomes more determined everyone is placed in very meaningful ways facing each other the vines start to return into chains before being crushed but the pillar I'm thinking stone ocean for some reason

Narancia's scene may also depict him getting smaller like his fight with Formaggio.

When trish is falling, the chains seem to take a similar shape to DNA strands, making it possibly to an allusion to Trish being bound not only by fate, but also being trapped by family/biology

When I watched the OP I noticed that when Trish appears sitting on the ground. It is the same shot as in the show when Bruno takes her to see Diavolo before he tries to kill her. anyway This was awesome and I love your analysis!

The Abbachio scene is my favourite part of the OP for how it foreshadows the later stages of Part 5 but I completely missed the King Crimson patterns so thank you for pointing them out.

I interpreted the head of sand shattering as mirroring the effects of Mista shattering Rolling Stones, immediately followed by the introductions of Abbaccio and Narancia.

I have read the manga and am curretnly watching the anime with a friend who hasn't. Can you imagine how much I am holding back seeing the opening over and over again? And the new OP makes it even harder as it is filled with literal spoilers

Many years from now, Meti will rise again, to analyze part 6, only to return to the sea until part 7 is animated.

Something to add is that mista’s chains aren’t surrounding him, they’re in the sides of the “path” that he’s on, which corresponds with his mentality and how he views life, being a set road to walk down.
