This is an excellent exhibition which should be seen by everyone. Denise Murell has outdone herself once again. Also, this video is excellent.

Thank you Dr. Denise Murrell, what an exhibition! Just a lovely explanation of the history of the Harlem Renaissance but also of artists I would not know about otherwise. This should be a traveling exhibition for all to see. Your explanation is wonderful.

Fantastic curation of the exhibition. I love than you have incorporated paintings, sculpture, photography and literature. A Spotify or Apple playlist from the Renaissance would be the wonderful. I am looking forward to seeing the exhibit in April. Congratulations to The Met and everyone involved in this project. In gratitude!

Back in the autumn, I decided I would give a talk on Harlem Renaissance. I had picked 1920s in a draw at my U3A Art Appreciation class....so I started reading, books I got second hand and began to plan what to cover. Then, Iwas amazed to see this exhibition advertised on my mobile. The video is superb, amazing and has helped me a lot. The catalogue is a joy to read and study the pictures. Sadly, a visit is not possible.Thankyou so much from Swindon, England.

I had the privilege to see this exhibit before museum hours and to experience this was amazing. It was so clean and the way it flows was top notch. My favorite section was “NIGHTLIFE”. The lighting fit the vibes that the art was telling and I spent most of my time there. Thank you for this exhibit, this video and I can’t wait to bring my family to see it.

I wonder about how when these demographic and historic shifts that take place on a global level, the context of the time is never mentioned outside of racism. There was a world war just prior that these artists were responding to in order to lift up the community world wide. I think this is the more important point, rather than focusing on the hatred in some, why not focus on the light intended for everyone.

0:55 8:05 Mr. Hollein you are playing a prank on us, right? The artistic skill in these paintings is underwhelming. In fact there is none. No virtuousity in form or colour, no knowlegde of form and colour. It is really an insult to the viewers expertise. It seems like an accident, that these paintings ended up in the MET.
