You should do the quiz as a series of polls, you'll be able to see the percentage of people that got the question right. Think that would work well

Weather apps keep changing for my region. Snow for Monday night/Tuesday, then not, then snow again and currently no snow. They don’t know in other words. 😆

Could you explain about the shrinking polar ice cap and the effect that will have on the gulf stream , l remember as a child being told that the gulf stream would "switch off" causing the temperture in the uk to drop and causing a mini ice age. l think it was to do with the sea water being less salty .

Sadly didn't get to catch you live this week, but have just watched it now. If you do - end up doing a deep dive about which weather model is considered better / preferred for a certain type of weather - could you possibly do a brief explanation of what exactly happens to the GFS 18Z which has earned it the nickname "the pub run". It definitely at this time of the year certainly does have a tendency to produce some snowy scenarios, usually 10+ days out - more so than the other runs of that particular model. Is there is a known reason for it? Such as maybe less actual observations to initialise it with?

Hello MetOffice, I wanted to answer your question about more snow in France than England (I'm the guy who commented "Me a French Person answering British Weather questions", I think that it could be true since the lows usually dig too South for snow in England, especially during winter, for example last winter in January, the low went too South and there was less snow in England, although lake effect snow could counteract that (I seriously doubt it though :)!)

Can I make a suggestion for a future deep dive? I still struggle to get my head around weather fronts. How they form, how do you as meteorologists measure/detect them. How they relate to pressure systems and sometimes they don’t seem to. What side of the line do the symbols go? Would appreciate a deep dive please.

How bad does the weather have to be to stop you both from cycling into the office?

Hi guys, enjoyed the quiz. However...several questions are predicated with 'on record/since records began'. Then there are some longer and some shorter records for different things. I suspect the depth of snow records were started at a different time from, say rainfall records. So could you provide a summary of the main record classifications and how far back they go? Thanks

Hi guys, I’m curious how the dates for each season were agreed upon historically. Are they based on average temps/sunshine/daylight hours etc? They don’t seem to be based upon the equinoxes. Has there been any debate about changing the start/finish dates & overall duration of each season, given how our climate is changing? Obviously the seasons change according to where you are in the world. How far would I need to travel from the UK before the dates of the seasons would change (would the dates for summer/winter be the same in Australia as they would in Kenya, for instance)?

Question: what happened in February 1996 when parts of west cumbria were cut off, yet very little snow inland. I worked in Whitehaven at that time, ended up spending the night on the sports hall floor and safeway supermarket, as it was then, brought round all the date expiring food. Its never been as bad since, what was happening to cause this unusual event?

What cut off lows are more potent ? Those which occur over the British Isles or those that occur over Spain ?

Hi Both , I am a great fan of your deep dive shows . I am quite new to Uk weather and I am so interested to have been able to learn a lot of uk weather stuff through your channel..I have always wondered how you get the shape of the jet stream as shown in your graphics .It might be a dumb question question but would like to know how you collect the data to show the shape of jet streams in your graphics

Great (live) show! I like it. Alex: you say 'sortov' and 'kindov' a lot! For example, what is the different between, 'At the surface' and your 'Kindov at the surface'?! Kindov and Sortov (the Russian cousins!) are 'fillers' and mean nothing usually! (Unless you're saying that Latte is a kindov coffee!)

What happened to the Azores high? Many moons ago it was a constant mention in weather reports. Not so much then about the jet stream. Is our weather still influenced by the then famous Azores high or have gulf stream changes etc. meant the influence is diminished?
