Watching any interview with Oldman, you can see he really does Transform infront of the camera once the director says action.

That is delightful to hear a true master when he explains how he does his job. Que delicioso es escuchar a un verdadero maestro cuando explica cómo hace su trabajo.

Those who say Tinker was as boring as watching paint dry should either grow some brain cells or stick to explosion-filled superhero movies. It's one of the most intense, intelligent and riveting films from this decade

what i love at gary oldman is the fact that he doest play Gary Oldman in all his movies, he actually playes different characters eacht time! Cough-Johnny Depp

Oldman is an absolute chameleon - which is the genius of Coppola in seeing that he could essay Dracula - but also the outer as well as inner change. Gordon, Black, Smiley and the insane cop from Leon are unique, each one is different and that Oldman has never won an oscar is simply outrageous.

Oldman's so eloquent - there s/b an Alternative Actors Award for the likes of him, DD Lewis, Depp, Dustin Hoffman, Seymour Hoffman...... the guys who can inhabit characters so you forget who they are on screen

He should have got the oscar

Oldman's Smiley was, I hate to say, was better than Guinness' smiley. I love TTSS back in the '70s but this version was waaaaaay better. Touche, Gary! Only, I was waiting for Gary to clean his glasses with his neck tie. Did I miss that? BTW, Smiley was predatory and not a squishy sort. Oldman had him nailed in his interpretation.

He really beat his nature. People with that small eyes are usually angry for no reason. Considered usuful dogs by some big money, though. And his killer, liking Beethoven, something to be remembered.

Totally wrong. TTSS is an incredibly nuanced, well written, brilliantly acted mature film.
@RollingOrmond11 жыл бұрын
You can find maturity at a rest home as well; crumpled, decrepit beings staring into space for hours on end. This does not necessarily mean an audience will find it interesting. And if director makes his actors behave like zombies and reduces the pace of the narrative to a kind of living death, one could create a sluggish plot even from the most exciting novel. Tinker Tailor does an amazing job of this, bringing the viewer into its comatose state until the final credits roll.
@coyotesong11 жыл бұрын
I think you miss most everything here....sluggish plot based on LeCarre's novel? Doubtful. I've watched the film a number of times....it's the overall maturity of the film that's unmatched by any number of serious films. It's the maturity of this film art that can't be explained or explicated. Either you get it or you don't. Part of this maturity is based on what's not said or acted dramatically, it's simply embedded in human DNA. And that makes it no less dramatic, and certainly no less real.

Nope, steveconn's right. I appreciate fine British films, but Tailor was like watching paint dry. Dreary, sluggish plot, and Oldman had no expressions. The most exciting thing he did was eat a breathmint. Just painful.
