Thanks for the shout out. In regards to accidentally disengaging the half nuts when cutting metric threads, one of my viewers asked if I could remove the handle used to engage & disengage the half nuts when cutting metric threads. I keep forgetting to see what that would involve and I’m already in my recliner today. As soon as I can carry out our dog for her afternoon walk, I’ll be putting on my soft britches and settling in for the evening. BTW your breathing sounds much better, hope you can continue to heal.

Toms' channel is very good, he deserves a few bucks. Or a lot of bucks if you've got them!

Hi Harold, metric threads are not usually an issue with an Imperial leadscrew. But Imperial threads can be an issue with a Metric leadscrew. So an Imperial leadscrew is the best option. Having a good range of gears usually covers all common possibilities. I must get me a threading insert holder one day, as I only use HSS for the job. Cheers Rob

This is the second metric thread I have single pointed. I think I do not have a desperate need for them. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

it can be a challenge on a US lathe.. but the American made lathes from back in the day are forever saute after..👍👍

Yes they started to do metric on the pro lathes long before they worried about us home hobby guys. Thanks Shawn for viewing.

I have the Atlas 10" lathe with QC gears. I have been looking for the change gears to cut metric threads with no success to this point. I will try to find the Atlas or Craftsman manual for the lathe. It looks like the answer is in it. Thanks for sharing. I called Tom the other day. He was out in the shop doing an assessment of the damage. He will be setting up some work days once the weather warms up. He is recovering well from his injuries. Thank you for your support of his channel.

If it helps, the difference between a 16 TPI leadscrew and a 1.5mm screw is almost exactly 189:200. Module 0.6 or 32-48 TPI makes a manageable size and then you can use the threading charts verbatim.

That seems like a very fine lead screw mine is 8 TPI. Thanks for the hint and for viewing Jim.

@@AmateurRedneckWorkshop The same change would get you 3 mm/rev, and here's the math for anyone curious: 8 TPI, inverted, gives 0.125 inch/rev. Multiply by 25.4 for millimeters to get 3.175 mm/rev. Multiply by (189/200) to get 3.000375 mm/rev. It is the long way around, but maybe someone will benefit from it. Thank you for showing your way which clearly works just fine.

Harold this was informative. I have to look at the metric conversions chart and gear for my Logan. Also, don't tell me your selling the old craftsman lathe?

Not selling right off, eventually. Give it a look as you will most likely find gold. Thanks Bruno.
