once you pointed this out to me, i watched the whole movie. i can tell you (from my perspective) that the esoteric symbolism used is BEST seen condensed as visual imagery for interesting audio like this, rather than watched on its own. my takeaway is that the meanings the movie was conveying were uniquely Armenian/Eurasian, and at their core depicted what seemed to be a rather ordinary life. please don't misunderstand however, the imagery is *incredible*, even tho the premise is time-locked and very culturally-specific

Thanks to a friend I found out that the video is based on the movie "Sayat Nova (The Color of Pomegranates)" by the russian -armenian director Sergei Parajanov. The movie made the Top 10 list in Cahiers du cinéma in 1982 and Top 100 in Time Out.
