sarlndr We just got back from there with the band (recording a song with Parokya ni Edgar). The poverty is painfully sad! From the slums to the homeless kids trawling the streets and trash cans... We love the Philippines though and find heart that in the midst of poverty, the people are generally happy, kind and giving.

Would like to see more interesting place in Manila besides the skyscrapers. Hopefully we can rebuild and promote more of Manila's historic landmarks. Maybe bring back old Manila's charming Manila Bay with wide roads and lush green rows of trees, beautify Escolta, bring back the Tramvia ( the 1st street car in Asia) and many other significant places that we as Filipinos can connect with and be proud.

But, the expansion must be done wisely - mistakes of our government and private developers must not be repeated again on the development of new sites of development. Just observed an EDSA sidewalks near the Ortigas Station of MRT on the side of Megamall to Robinsons Galleria - this was a proof that some developments in Metro Manila was not that properly planned... Furthermore, I hope that the Train system of Metro Manila will soon be expanded to nearby provinces and will be upgraded and properly maintained. And the development will also be felt by other farther key cities and towns like Cebu and Davao. Transportation and Communication are one of the important factors of development, like in human body - these two serve as the vein and artery of the nation's economy and development. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

JR G My solutions: No jeeps and no trycicles. (They make air pollution) Bigger roads to reduce traffic and loads of trucks. (Ortigas looks good, but the roads are still bullshit,) Stricter laws. (So much littering in slums, nobody even cares) Make good houses (some newer houses are slummy. At least there fancy and modern houses in some places, but still not all houses are good.) More trash cans (reduce littering.) Office Skyscrapers (So peasents gan get a job and earn money, and they won’t be peasents anymore.) Clean dirty water areas (Fishes are fucked up in rivers like pasig river, there’s one time pasig river has been darkened out and it smells like shit.)
