Metro North Train 1844, the shuttle from South Norwalk to Danbury on the Danbury Branch, departs Merritt 7 with a little bit of horn and a good rev. Today's consist is F10's 413 on the point and 411 trailing, with three Shoreline II coaches with cab car 6315 on the rear. I know i might look a bit silly running through the parking lot to chase this train, but if you know anything about these engines, there are only three of them left on Metro North, they are the oldest engines in revenue service in America, and they both look and sound beautiful. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on April 2nd, 2008.

I've been a locomotive engineer for 31 yrs. To this day my favourite sounding locomotive is an F9 in 8 throttle. I miss those old girls!! Hogger01

Originally, they were built as F3s for the GM&O. Then they were rebuilt @ Paducah, and entered service in Boston, for the T. In the early '90s, Metro-North purchased them. They were built around 1946, all.

I have a great photo of the 413 Northbound in the snow North of Pawling NY from about 6 years ago, I'll try to find it and scan it. I also have some video of the last days of FL9 powered rush hour express trains on the Harlem line. Two FL9s with 6-8 Bombs. I'll post soon.
