The sheer amount of effort behind this channel is insane to me, it is so good, thorough and knowledgeable. My wife and I are from Mexico City and just took a trip to Rio and Sao Paulo and used this channel as a guide for Rio, it was super helpful, thank you!!

The metro looks very clean!

It is! Much cleaner than the one in London, at least (and more spacious too!)

Thank you for making this it was so helpful! Can you please make a video about shopping? Where do locals get household items/toiletries? What are the main chains stores? What is sold at the 'street bazars'? Where to get touristy stuff, etc. That kind of stuff. That's another video that would be super helpful, thank you!!😊

Hi Kris, I will def try and have one like that. I have a couple of other similar videos that might be helpful: search for the one about souvenirs, street market, and the cost of living, these three videos can give you some extra insight on your questions in the mean time

Thank you as always for your informative videos! One question, I’m traveling to Rio for New Year’s Eve , would I still Be able to use my bank card on that day, even with the upcharged rate they have? Or is buying the new years card the only way
@tripsterpanda Жыл бұрын
Hey Roy, you do need to buy the ticket in advance as the reason for that is not to upcharge (in fact, it is the same price as a regular trip), it is just to ensure they can serve all the people well. I remember a few years back when they didn’t have the time slots, it would be an absolute nightmare to use the metro on NYE. My suggestion is that you stay within walking distance to the beach, or get the metro before 7 pm, as you won’t need a reserved slot ticket. If you do get to Rio a few days early, I guess you could go to Carioca station and buy a slot reserved ticket (and maybe see some attractions around there as well). The problem is that they might sell out before you have a chance to get one.

Informative video. I plan to attend nye fireworks event then head back to airport SDU. What’s the walking distance and time for me to catch uber while maintaining safety? Please help!
@tripsterpanda21 күн бұрын
I dont think it is a walkable distance from the beach to the airport. The road right next to the beach will be closed and maybe a couple parallel roads more. So you are probably going to walk 2-4 blocks until you get to a road which allows cars. All the streets will be crowded throughout the night. The concern here is more around pickpocketing then anything violent. Even the tunnel between Copacabana and Botafogo (which I usually do not suggest to cross by foot) will likely be busy with people attending the fireworks display. My suggestion is to stay somewhere a bit farther from Copacabana but near a metro station (i.e. Botafogo or Flamengo), then get a metro from the fireworks back to your accommodation, then get a taxi/uber from there. This will help you avoid a bit of traffic

@@tripsterpanda @ thanks! I plan to be somewhere around posto 5 to watch fireworks. After fw walk about 4 blocks to cantagalo then ride the metro all the way up to cinelandia. Transfer to SDU via uber. Is this realistic??? My flight departs NYD at 9:30 so need to be at airport by 7:00 am. I have hotel in mind closest to SDU airport where i plan to stay.
@anacristaldi20 күн бұрын
@@rdiesel84tbh, I think Cinelandia is not a good idea as it will be very deserted around there, so I wouldnt select it. Thinking of all the stops, Botafogo is probably your best bet as there will still be some people around the streets likely. Also, at 6 am the traffic in Copacabana will be better, so you might not even need the metro.
@rdiesel8420 күн бұрын
@@anacristaldii decided to reserve a spot 5 min near posto 4. Is fireworks visible from street? Im considering reserving kiosk but insure if we can after fireworks or even open after 10pm.

Are the metro stations/train in the North Zone safe to visit/use?
@tripsterpanda8 ай бұрын
Yes, depending which one you are going to. You just need to keep your eyes peeled a bit more than in the south zone. I would also avoid night time. The Tijuca area should be generally safe. Please note I am talking about the region around the stations, outside of the metro. The metro should be safe regardless of the station. In the north zone, i wouldn’t venture much farther than Nova America mall, tbh.

My pleasure! My idea with this channel is to have more practical information, as I think many travel channels lack that. I am glad you find it useful!
