You could really do with 4 hands when your trying to stretch the tyre on the rim...BUT if you use some strong cable ties, and tie it on, then move on a bit and tie it up again and then again then its quite easy to do, 3 cable ties and the rest was easy to get on and finish the job, then just cut off the ties. Mine were 700x32c

I just finished putting on a set of 700c x40 on my hybrid and it's a bit harder than they make it look getting the last bit on. I'm not a bike mechanic and it took me 1.5 hours to put the first one on and about 50 minutes for the second. I'm pretty impressed with how they feel, and I'm glad I did it.

its all about leverage, we use 3 extra large tyre levers like they supply, its is a bit of bad marketing, cos they aren't really user fitting friendly.. that's why we fit them for free at our shop, record is about 20min for full set..

Useful video, thank you. This helped me get my tyre on after trying for about an hour and when I thought it was not going to happen! Helpful tip, I found when pulling the tyre fully onto the rim, if you're on your own, use a couple of cable ties (zip ties) to hold the tyre in place as far as you can easily pull it onto the rim on either side (around 6 minutes on this video), before you get to the final stage where you have to wrestle the final 6 or so inches onto the rim.

In the instructions it says to remove rim tape, ensures the tyre seats fully.

The music is interesting . I saw a common comment theme, so I thought I would address it. The best way I can express it is full , consistent , and overall... a pleasant sound. I have a suspicion all the dislikes towards it are guys who have not embraced there feminine, or sensitive sides. They think anything ``soft " besides a woman is borderline homosexual or weak. actually these tyres are only ones in world TUV certified (googl it) and are actually way safer then any other pneumatic.. we had a guy crash and he was able to ride a heavily buckled (disc brake) rim w the tannus on for miles till he got to a shop.. w normal tyre that crash would cause a blow out, end of any kind of riding..

My experience was that it is much more difficult when the tyre itself is a tight fit to the rim (25C tyres in 17mm rim). My technique was to insert each pin as I went, not too much, not too little, then pack the rubber in around the pin and under it using a flat head screwdriver. Next stand over the wheel, holding the wheel in place by spokes using my toes then push the pin in. Don't just push down, two parts to the movement, push it down below the rim then outwards laterally to lock in place. If it doesn't lock well push down on the pin afterwards with flat head screwdriver and outwards laterally.

+Jemnifur I realize you left this comment around a year ago, but that won't stop me from replying. :-) Look for the Daytona (from Marvel Compound Tire) tire installation video. That one looks a bit easier to install; it doesn't use separate tabs to hold it to the rim. I haven't tried any of the airless tires yet, so I don't know if the Daytona tires are any good for riding.

why did you leave the rim tape on? ..to haters.. we fitted every single set to customers for free, its too much phaff to fit yourself, but we haven't had a single return! we are actually getting return customers buying another set after year or another set for additional bike. We find them just super convenient.. they are not performance tyres as some people think they can use them that way. Also weight carried, surface riden, can be a factor in wear. which people also tend to forget when hating..

For me the Tannus Tire is a Tubular Tire. And in a real Tubular Tire Version no Tool and no Tabs are needed for mounting. I don't like the current Version but I would like to test the Tires in a real Tubular Version.

There are a load of cheap ones available from China now. They have no pins. I guess one could add some glue if one felt anxious but apparently they are difficult to put on so they are probably difficult to roll off, perhaps. I can't find a review anywhere.

broken spokes are 90% case of bad maintenance and crap rims.. the other 10% is bad riding style, hitting pot holes for example, badly exec curb hopping etc..

Guys, these are NOT that easy to install, not even remotely. My only guess is Tannus produced 2 horribly flawed tires that are too wide for the rims I very carefully verified before chalking up $65 a tire plus shipping. The tool is absolutely useless and in fact, detrimental to the tire itself. When trying to push the tabs in the tool cuts the tire where the tab slides thru and rips the hole open causing the tire to be useless. Worst $150 I've ever spent. It's faster, easier & cheaper to fix a flat every other week.
