Great tutorial. Fought for several hours trying to follow the official tannus instruction video with no luck. Even thought I must have messed up and ordered the wrong size. 20 minutes after watching this tutorial both tires are on and wheels back on the bike. Thanks guys.

First best and only vid so far that really shows and explains how it's done. You take a seemingly overcomplicated procedure and make it nice and simple. Great professional job!

Absolute lifesaver for showing how to get the tire over the rim!

Just finished installing a pair of 700x28 on my bike. This is a very helpful video (and I bought the tires from the these guys). Couple of quick comments: warming the tires, even a little bit, really does make a difference. I did one without much warming and did the second after laying it on a floor with radiant heat about 30 minutes - noticeable difference, particular on the step of levering the tire fully around the rim. The p-tool is useful in two main areas - getting the initial three or four pins locked in as well as when you inspect (both sides) of the tire when "finished" and you see that a couple of pins did not fully seat. Otherwise, the freebie "T" shaped tool works great for pin insertion. The other limitation of the p-tool is that your spokes will get in the way - particular since the dual-wingnut hardware on the p-tool makes it rather wide - you will have clearance issues. Overall I'd say installation is rather tedious, but with the tires rated to 5k miles, it's not exactly something one will need to do very often.

I appreciate your video! Got the tires on with relative ease, they feel pretty good so far and didn’t flinch at some glass on the road. ✌️

This video is the way, thank you! If you dont have the hand strength like thanos here in the vid, put zip ties around the tire every so often as you work it around

Tannus should replace their install-video with this.. Fought half an hour with the "tannus-way" (putting the tire on the rim) - did it i 10 minutes with this.. Thanks!!!
If you’re thinking about these tires, get them at this shop. That tool is VERY helpful... one more thing, it’s no where as easy as it looks....but worth the effort.

with a 1.75" tyre the forces are almost 4x as great. I just did 2 and it was a huge battle! I'd have to think twice about doing it again. I am pretty skilled and strong - it would be impossible for some DIYers, I think. I couldn't video it - too much swearing! :)

Very good instruction video! Actually the best one out there. And much better than Tannus own.

This is without doubt the best installation video of Tannus tyres ever made. I can add how to remove them easily without damaging neither the tyres or the pins: Insert the s-tool between two pins and between tyre and rim so it sticks out on the other side. A screwdriver could be helpful doing this. The pins holding the tyre are installed across the rim and under the lips. Forcing the pins out of place diagonally will loose the tyre from the rim. Place the wheel against a sturdy object such as a wall with the edge facing you. Using a mallet, hit the s-tool and force the pins on one side of the rim until the pop out one by one. When all pins are out it's easy to use the s-tool and pry the tyre off from the rim. This knowledge could be very useful then replacing eg. a loose or broken spoke. After repair the tyre and pins are easily installed again.

Thanks for this great video! I used your tips and completed my (very first) installation in less time and effort than I had anticipated! ...now if it were to only stop raining so I can go out for a quick installation ride. : /

I just install these tires 700C 35. I had a few issues installing them but over came the issues. This if what I did to lighten the install process. I got them warmed up placing them out in the sun. I then worked then back and forth in my hands as I rotated the tire. Just flexed them back and forth. Straightened the tire right out. Made it a lot easier inserting the plastic pins. Used needle nose pliers to insert the pins. The installing them on the rim .... I used zip ties and as I worked the tire from the bottom I installed a zip tie on the bottom. Placed one at 4 and 7 o’clock ... then worked my way around. About every 8 in I placed another zip tie. Cinch them right up. Got to the top and just popped the tire right on. Make sure to seat the bead at one side all away around. Now on the opposite side push the plastic pin in with the tool provided. Push the edge of the tire down and put force into the middle of the pin. This will bend the pin enough to make it snap right in. Took about 30 min to install a tire. Later.

Hi! Is the line in the middle of the tyre, in the middle? Mine is slightly off to one side
@filmtajm354 жыл бұрын
@@fredsting8871 Yes, the line should be in the middle. You have to work the tyre in place correctly either by hand or using slip joint pliers.

Great video thanks, ive had these tyres for years, and ive just replaced the rear one as it had gone a bit square on the edges with a new tannus, but i cannot get it to sit right this time, it feels like ive got a buckled wheel now, so gonna take it off and try again....for the 3rd time...

I did one, oh yes, lock in about 15 ish, and start to pull it around the wheel. The last bit is so hard, I felt I have exceed the limit of my strength. Wow, need to finish back wheel tomorrow 😅

One of the plastic pins tore through it's insertion hole on the underside of the tire during installation. Is the tire still safe to use with one pin not secured?
