Honestly, the x parasites aren't talked about enough in the wider gaming community. They're absolutely terrifying in concept, like John Carpenter's The Thing had a baby with the Flood from Halo.

Fusion was my first Metroid game I played all the way through. I gotta say it might be my favorite next to Zero Mission. I was invested in the story, and the "linear" gameplay didn't bother me since I spend hours being lost in these games to begin with. But that's just me.

Honestly I think Fusion does some good stuff with its linearity, and I especially appreciate the ways it uses that structure to fake out the player in later sections and also set up encounters with the SA-X. Fusion's such a solid Metroid game, I'm glad it's been getting more love lately

I think this is your best Metroid Month video yet! Love the use of your conveniently owned Metroid arm cannon. For something that impresses in all videos but I haven't said it yet, I'm always amazed that your audio sounds the same whether you're on facecam or voice-over mode. The spoiler loading screen is so clever too. I didn't realise Metronidazole Fusion (I'm gonna keep that autocorrect) had so much story but this was a very interesting analysis. Wayne truly is boss

I'm glad someone has noticed some of the things I do in my editing to maintain a consistent level of quality lol I actually go through the process of recording my audio through my mic whenever I film myself and later go in and sync up the audio and video in post. It takes more time but I think the better quality audio during my live action segments is worth the tradeoff. And thanks for the kind words man, I actually wasn't sure how I felt about the way this video turned out so the uplifting reassurance is most appreciated

This is like the one time in the Metroid franchise that I did not mind the lore dump front-loaded on to us like this. It may have been a linear game with barely any sequence breaking possible but it was a fun linear game

This is the one I had! Great game, it was my first 2D Metroid, Metroid Prime came with my gamecube back in the day, can't wait for you to review that one next year! Great review as usual, makes me wanna play the whole metroid series.

The explanation for ridly is simple, they kept imhsi corpse on cryo after his defeat in super for research. You can actually see it way before the fight.

@@Wayneisboss I think that actually got slightly retcon in zero missions since you escape after defeating mother brain but get shot down back to the planet again. That or like its a frozen clone maybe considering they managed to clone metroids too.

Fusion was actually the first Metroid game I ever played. Having gone from this to Prime and then to NES and Zero Mission, I totally agree with this being a great game for newcomers as they warm up to the series.

I went from knowing nothing about meteoid other than samus and ridley. Then after dreads announcement I decided why not let's try metroid. I liked it. I tried metroid 2. It was fun. Super metroid awesome really fun. Metroid fusion. Very fun. Now I can't wait for dread in the next 50 hours

It makes sense to me that the SA-X would attack the Metroid, as the species was created to literally kill them. Given that some, if not all, of the X parasite have intelligence, I wouldn't put it past them to hold a grudge against their murderers and want to get rid of them once and for all. Though not killing Samus at the end is a little strange. Maybe the SA-X decided Samus was on their side somehow or that it was just the best decision?

Hold up! The Omega Metroid escapes the lab and hunts Samus down to the docking bay. It's virtually invincible until it almost kills you, where SA-X is conveniently inserted for plot purposes to expose that it's weak to ice. Alright, that's cool and all. But, Wayne, why is the Omega Metroid still so beefy and invincible when it is clearly standing in front of an enormous shattered docking bay door that should have everything around it exposed to the well below freezing temperatures vacuum of space?

@Waynelsboss TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION: How the X mimicked Ridley: It seems clear to me that the Federation, among other secret experiments, took the corps of Ridley to the station after his last fight against Samus. That's why you see Ridleys' corpse in a frozen room. They were saving his corpse for study, but as we see, Ridley's corpse crumbles and a core X floats away, and thats why when you see the corpse again in another room, you know it's an X parasite mimicking the corpse and then soon after taking on Ridley in all his lively splendor.

The Dread comment is just funny now, but the reason I'm commenting is the comment about not understanding why the SA-X would go after the Omega Metroid. The SA-X now has all of Samus's memories and knowledge, which means it can reason that Metroids are a clear and present danger and that they must be killed. After all, we see the X respond to the threat of Samus when she was going around killing the stronger X, seeing her as a clear danger to their existence. And probably for the same reason, they feared the Metroids, they could see she was similar enough to them to warrant everything they tried to take her out. So even if the question at the end was, why didn't it go after Samus after the Omega hit her, it could reason that the bigger danger was the Metroid, and Samus could still be useful in destroying them. That old saying, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Something that is quoted in Voyager with the threat of Species 8472 and realizing the Borg are their best chance to save the day. Or Like Vegeta siding with the earthlings Against Freeza and the Ginyu Force. All that said, I can't wait to see the rest of the videos.

The reason the SA-X chooses to attack the Omega Metroid is because the X have proven that they go after anything that is a threat to their existence, so long as they have the means to kill said threat. In this case, SA-X would attack the Omega Metroid because SA-X knew it had the means to do so (the ice beam), although SA-X underestimated the Omega and died for it. I imagine the SA-X knew the only way to get off of the ship in time was by boarding Samus's ship and the only way to get the ship back to the landing pad was by killing the Omega. This is a theory of course, but one that I think somewhat satisfies the question, "Why did SA-X even both going after Omega?"

Hey buddy just a quick little detail that you overlooked. You said the SA-X was more deadly because Samus is part Metroid now but the Metroid vaccine was administered after the armor was already removed so the x was mimicking her prior to receiving it. Therefore, no Metroid energy sucking powers for Mr. SA-X. Also, if Samus had Metroid DNA when she was first infected, it would've cancelled out the X since even the cells from the dead baby Metroid were enough to kill the parasite infection. One thing dread has introduced is that it seems like Samus is now part X parasite in addition to being part Metroid? It's not confirmed or anything but it seems like the X DNA she got from the infection keeps her stable. I think that's why X-Quiet Robe helped her transform out of her Metroid armor. It's definitely true that the X takes memories from the host so quiet robe's affection for Samus played a part, but I genuinely don't think the X would've sacrificed itself and allowed itself to be absorbed like that unless it recognized Samus as a fellow X. Don't forget that Fusion made a point to drill into our heads how intelligent the X are It seems like each DNA Samus was given affects the others. The Thoha DNA boosts her intelligence and enables her to suppress the Metroid DNA, the Metroid DNA absorbs energy and keeps her X infection in check, and the Mawkin DNA gives her the combat prowess she has, and acts as the trigger to activate her Metroid abilities if she needs to. I bet in Metroid 6 the X DNA she has will be the inciting incident of the plot, and also the solution at the conclusion. I also have a theory that the X will be related to the Mawkin similar to how the Metroids are related to the Thoha. Dread hinted at this idea a little bit we will have to wait another 20 years for the next game to see XD Samus Aran, the most powerful being in the universe. Part Human, Part Thoha, Part Mawkin, Part Metroid, Part X-Parasite. 100% grade-A, gluten free, non-homogenized badass. A perfect balance of every destructive force on the universe. That would be a beautiful way to go. Full circle.
