SaltyWaffles It's a 2D game AND you can freeze your enemies. Nice run but it can't be that hard to complete from what ive seen. The only challenge is knowing where to go

steven Claessen Being 2D doesn't mean anything, neither does being able to freeze enemies in the end parts of the game. Till you've played it you don't know how hard it is. He's doing low% on hard mode which means he's taking 40 damage from most enemies with only a max health by the end of 200 HP. Freezing enemies only happens on the latter quarter/half of the game and it isn't that useful except for the Metroids which require it for which he has to calculate every move he makes due to how low his ammo is. He's still taking tons of damage from anything with a hitbox so just a few shots could finish him off even when he's fully powered up. Knowing where to go is the least of his problems. Some people shouldn't speak without knowing what they're talking about. Then again, some people simply shouldn't speak.

I remember trying to low percent this game ages ago - also exactly how long it took before I gave up. Without a route I just made it to Ridley - after countless deaths - and gave up on him. So watching this is really awesome. Always amazing to watch a master going at it.

Just to put into perspective the sheer insanity of this run, this video was the only Low% Hard run on the leaderboards until just 3-4 weeks ago. One of those is a two hour run and the other, which beat this time by 40 seconds, has three deaths. Technically speaking, there's a lot of room for optimization, but the pure lethality of this run makes those optimizations an ordeal.

Random Number Generator / Generation. Programs and computers can't give real randomness, so there are "secret" programs at work that try to randomize stuff. Manipulation of boss behavior and stuff is sometimes possible when people figure out the RNG-code. For example, newer pokemon games give pokemon random stats, and we know that your date in the calander alters the RNG, so setting your gameboy settings on april 12th gives the best bulbasaur.
