It's the guitar mostly giving that effect, I'd have to figure out the chords but it moves in a skewed manner (I think some of the notes move chromatically) which creates this slightly unnverving impression

That's what I thought today when I found this song. - Didn't realize it's from 2011 ... wow. Spotifiy recommendet it today to me - anyway: I felt the rhythm and backing vocals totally gave it some very subtle irony. Like an overly sweet happy ending from a 80's movie. Too good to be true. One thing I love? This music video has no story and the song isn't anywhere near my favorite, and the random shots of deer are weird... But the aesthetic of how it was executed? Cinematography, style, editing, lighting, etc? It was so beautiful. And I can see this being done with only a minute amount of gear. It really made up for it, and even more.

I think that this song is about the illusive feeling of fulfillment you have when you're in love. "Everything goes your way" for a while, when you're in the bubbly fairy tale phase but when you get back to reality it's all different. I get this "creepy atmosphere" and I think it comes from the fact that we know somehow that she's going to get her heart broken again.
