Fun game to watch but surprising number of take backs from an experienced player

yeah, wtf? Not sure I would have appreciated. Especially when draws 2 cards instead of 1, put one back, then draw again without shuffling ??

While I agree that the take backs were more liberal than I would have allowed, the double draw was resolved correctly. The player is required to spend their next available click to draw the double-drawn card. There is no shuffling involved.

Its a tournament lol. He was nervous and it was an elimination game (hands were shaky). Game is hard, especially at this level + playing anarch decks. I’d def cut him some slack

@@MetropoleGrid you should still always call a judge even if you know the resolution.

I played a load of punitive RH before TAI and watching the other player’s dawning horror of “oh, this mundane value run on archives is going to kill me right now” is just a beautiful thing

As someone who as been playing a modified version of Diogene’s Esa for a while now, including in Australian Nationals and at Worlds, I can say that it is a very strong deck. Most of the losses I have incurred have been a result of my own mistakes (deciding to continue a Finality against RH with only one card in hand, deciding to check Archives with only one card in hand, using Bankhar with not enough cards in hand…). It’s an aggressive deck, but slowing down and thinking about how you will lose in various situations is how you win.

Psyched to see in-person play on KZbin Again!

It's also my pet peeve to make Issuaq work, as well as Diogene's actually (according to a list he published on NRDB), so it must have been awesome for him to play against it! I don't know how much the ID ability was used though, it feels like the same Punitive strategy might have just been better with PE.

I need to ask Sven whether the Issuaq ability fired at all during the event! I'm the biggest fan of the Jinteki Punitive shell in Restoring Humanity, as you have a natural way to enforce a credit lead (and a sweet honeypot of an unflipped Archives).

Essa is such toxic fun, Chastushka into Time Bomb is just heartbreaking. The only suitable matchup that doesn't feel that extremely bad is the Thule which accelerates the core damage even beyond Essa comfort and allows to score Onthological with much less hussle. IMO Essa and good stuff trash Hoshiko are very unfun for the corps as you more often than not you find yourself with cards that normally cannot be trashed falling out of your deck every turn including Ice on the table. Usually putting corp into unwinnable situations especially with Stargate lock on the possibility of drawn Ice. Not a fan of such mechincs. The other one being Arissana Conduit Pichação which is 6 conduit runs on the same turn with Aeneas Informant makin sure you make money on run instead of losing them. Most of the time you get much more money then you spend on going through ice. I have to say not impress with NSG for letting such things go through playtesting
