@@MetroRailBlog very sad and unfortunate news, Again East West metro work is stopped due to Some workers are found positive with COVID , is there no end to obstacles? Already we are running late. But still God Is giving more obstacles. I don't think work can resume this year. I don't think we can see Metro in this life. Maybe after 200 years we can see the metro. Do you have any idea when will the work resume again? And also what about the Haldirams , Teghoria stretch?

Kolkata will have many stations in future that are junctions of railways and metro. Starting from Howrah, Sealdah, Majerhat, Dakshineswar, New Garia, Dum dum cantonment, present dum dum jn, Tollygunge, Baranagar and the list will continue.

Still that extension is not yet approved. Construction is still a dream. I don't think they are at all interested in the Haldirams extension of EW metro. It is only proposed that too years ago

I think it won't terminate at BBD Bag but at Esplanade. And yes recently funds has been alloted for Joka Depo and Moninpur station. Land was the issue. Army was reluctant to give land near Victoria but It's looks sorted now.

I believe they lack the expertise as East West metro follows more advanced signalling system. So they may not have manpower. But I heard in the initial stage before the inauguration Kolkata Metro only carried the whole process like supplying Motorman.

james jason it’s bengal , kochi , hyderabad metro has stared the civil structures work from 2015 and both of these lines are operating now. It’s bengal that’s the problem, the state government is the problem

Hello Sir, I have a question. I have travelled to many countries with the exception of Delhi metro that is comparable to European level why other cities in India not making metro coaches at top of the notch technology? Is it because the state government is not funding enough money? Even a country like Thailand which is economically behind India have beautiful metro coaches and stations. In Qatar, Doha metro where some of the metro stations looks like airport terminals. ALSTOM’s Dubai tram first in Middle East is fully equipped with ground-level power supply. Mostly, in abroad the metro coaches and stations are designed very beautifully. Even the concrete structures are fully painted once the construction is over. For airport lines why can’t we have a maglev ? Thanks

Why metro railway use cut & cover route instead of TBM???Is it very expensive that metro can't afford it???? As we all know that TBM can take very little time to make a tunnel of just 600m as compare to cut & cover or box pushed.

The stretch is too small for them to use a TBM. Also, TBM is not needed, as land is already available.
