I love my Mets. PLEASE. Let me live long enough to see a championship or 2 or 3. Been a Met fan since 1968. OMG!!!! LFGM!!! ⚾

@spleeber: Been a Mets fan since 1975. Let me be honest the front office of the Mets needs a check up from the neck up. Since 2000 they have seen the payoffs 5 times with two World Series appearance. Hence I expect them to contend for the play in, wild card, playoffs, World series for at least the next 5 years. Why let the Yankees be numero uno in a city of two franchises? LETS GO METS!!!

It sounds like Matt Eddy’s takes are based on whether or not these prospects will be superstars. Saying Mark Vientos might be a JD Martinez type hitter or fall short? JD Martinez nearly won the triple crown in Boston. The man had an ELITE bat most of his career. If we are grading prospects on whether they can match that… good luck.
@baseballamericaКүн бұрын
They aren't. Sorry if it came across that way. Matt has been covering prospects for two decades now. He studies it in-depth both looking forward but also reviewing what has happened. He knows very well that very few prospects reach JD Martinez's level of production.

Ive been a Mets fan for nearly 40 years and one thing thats certain is these prospect prognosticators arent any more right or wrong on prospects than the average hardcore baseball fan. For instance all i heard for the last couple years was about Baty being the next guy at 3B for the mets and Vientos will be a nice bench piece with some power but unable to play the field and yet here we are.

For Luis Angel Acuna … I feel you should have mentioned that he continued to do just as well in Winter League as he did with the MLB level Mets. Hopefully this is the level he can maintain.
@baseballamerica2 күн бұрын
It's not all that instructive in my opinion. The range of pitching was just too varied to gather much from it. His 3 HRs came off 3 pitchers who are no longer in affiliated baseball.

@ fair enough.
@levy959517 сағат бұрын
The VWL where Acuña played his winter ball is a very low quality league. There are some MLBers and prospects sprinkled in there, but a huge chunk of the league is filled by complete non prospects and lower level guys. Acuña mashing there certainly bodes better than him struggling, but the VWL is MAYBE overall around the quality of AA if that, so him performing well there doesn't really enhance his profile or projection in any meaningful way.

I really appreciate the level headed analysis. Obviously as fans we all want to dream on the superstar potential of players, but I can get that anywhere. One thing I’ve always liked about Eric at Fangraphs is I feel like I’m always told how this might go wrong. Where the shortcomings are and the range of outcomes that are possible. Was curious what y’all thought of Jeremy Rodriguez? I’ve heard Brayan Rocchio comps and while there’s large error bars with someone his age it seems like a great return for Pham.

Nice review after a boring season for the farm with all the injuries. I'm hoping for a bounce back year on the position player side and looking forward to the new arms from last years draft. Seems like the Mets have turned the corner in pitching development the last 2 years so I'll be expecting some new names to pop once they get into camp. Any names to keep an eye on from your perspective? I like Dohm, Santucci, and Ryan Lambert.

The Mets have invested HEAVILY into analytics and developmental infrastructure ever since Steve Cohen took ownership of the team. He made a massive financial investment into the developmental process, built a basically 1 of 1 state of the art pitching lab, and hired a huge and diverse team of analytical and player development employees. These types of changes aren't felt at the big league level overnight, but over the years under Cohen the Mets process of development has gotten more streamlined, and exponentially more modern. 2024 the process began to bear fruit, and I genuinely believe 2025 is the year it takes off for them in their player development, particularly for pitchers. The pipeline is almost here with Sproat, Maclean and Tong, and I 100% expect it to continue to flow steadily with quality starting pitching prospects now that they've got their system firmly in place.

I’d love to subscribe to BA but it’s so expensive, what do they offer that makes me say ok this is definitely worth it?
@baseballamericaКүн бұрын
We do more content and we produce it faster would be my answer. We have a full-time staff that works on this 12 months a year, which we can only do because of our subscribers. We update our prospect rankings multiple times in-season so you will know who is breaking out before anyone else. We have reports on 40 prospects per organization on the site right now (and we've had Top 10s up for each organization for months). We have in-depth fantasy baseball coverage with rankings and in-depth insights. We cover college baseball in-depth and we cover the draft like no one else. We currently have reports on the top 200 draft prospects for 2025, as well as rankings and reports for the 2026 draft class as well. And we cover international baseball and the DSL in-depth. We send staff to the DSL, and have DSL rankings/reports you won't find elsewhere.
