Baseball isn't like some other sports... you don't need championships or MVPs to be a part of a Hall of Fame conversation, you just need to be consistently good. But even if you wanted to consider that, Lindor's 2016 postseason was awesome (he hit .370 in the ALCS and .300 in the World Series) and Cleveland lost the World Series in extra-innings of Game 7 because they had no pitching, so it wasn't his fault. He's finished Top-10 in MVP voting 5 times (3 times in the AL, 2 times in the NL), doing so while playing one of the most important positions on the field at a Gold Glove level and switch-hitting. In fact, you could argue he's the greatest switch-hitting SS in MLB history. As long as he has a healthy 3-4 more seasons at his usual numbers, he's an easy HOF choice.

Idk if you can call a guy that had an ERA+ of 140 from 2015-2018 a bust. Like I get it, he was drafted as a starter and didn't really pan out, and his career had a steep decline, but I would argue the Cubs got more than enough out of him during that 2015-2018 stretch. Obviously taking a whole career into account, maybe I agree with you, but if we're judging him strictly as a reliever and from what the Cubs got out of him, I believe they would say they hit on Carl Edwards Jr. From 2017-2018 alone he had an ERA+ of 153, with 118.1 innings combined over the two seasons. Great video and definitely enjoy the content, we may just have different criteria for what a bust is. You don't necessarily need to have extreme career longevity, especially for relievers, I believe a 3-4 year stretch of great pitching is more than enough to say he was at least meh.
@AndThatsBaseball8 ай бұрын
I get what you’re saying, but short term productive relievers aren’t too hard to come by. How Seager isn't HOF is crazy, also Hedges being a bust while being in the league 10 years is insane.

Anyone realize how many pitchers came up with the pirates in the mid 2010s and were mid then went somewhere else and became amazing

Syndergaard was such a big deal he made it into Game of Thrones as a Lannister soldier in one of the seasons.

I'm a Yankees fan that is still a big Gary Sanchez fan AND thought Frazier got a bit of a raw deal from the team and press

Here in STL we expect the best 💯 I can tell he was nervous because he was terrible today!BUT it’s a long season and I still got faith in my Cards.

Mark Appel should have signed with the Pirates when they drafted him the year before. Back then they had the staff that would have helped fix his issues
@InhaleAIR8 ай бұрын
put some respect on Mark Appel. Dude battled hard to get his stuff on track, and then quit baseball because he never thought he’d make it. Went to philly, found his love for the game, and made it to the show. Didn’t have the career he wanted, but at least he made it where he thought he wouldn’t.

It’s unfair to not mention all the terrible injuries Polanco suffered. He had a cannon for an arm and then had a bunch of shoulder injuries and just couldn’t throw anymore

I think Gary Sanchez is in the meh category, but closer to hit than bust

“Despite having 4, the Pirates had 0 hits.” Says it all about that organization. Either their player development system/major league coaching staff screws up the players or their prospects are all hype and no substance. It’s so much FUN being a Pirates fan the last 32 years…
