Hes only making 15m padres need to cut $ and gain younger cheaper players but trading cease hurts them bad this year. Best hope is the padres are dysfunctional like owners ship this year and at the ASB it’s a fire sale. I’m just worried we don’t have enough to be buyers come the ASB without Pete and an ace. Pen is good and if we get an ace for the playoffs Holmes can go back making it a top 3 pen in MLB. But we need more now.

Ill say it again. I dont agree with you on Pete. The Mets dont need him as long as you can find another productive bat. Pete is trending down and I dont want him bringing the team down. Regarding the pitching, it can use an upgrade and like you said, they have too many prospects. Why not use 1 or 2 to get another good pitcher. The Mets have a 300+ million dollar payroll. Cohen is not cheap. This isnt the 70s Yankees where they get everyone.

Sorry, Roy. Cease to the Mets will not happen unless the deal includes two low-level prospects and nothing else. Cease is a rental and the Mets will not give a 31 year-old Cease a multi-year contract as a free agent. David Stearns will not go more than 3-years for a 31 Year-old SP no matter how good he is. So it would be Cease for only 1-year. How much is he worth????

Ray, how is cease a frontline or what you would call an A starter? Go look at his career ERA at 3.75. That's not an ace at least not in my book. Same thing with Luis Castillo. We need to aim higher we should have signed Burns but Stearns is not that type of gm! In regards to pete Alonzo, it's all sterns. He doesn't want Alonzo back he never did He's not his type of player. Whatever the hell that means. There's certain things about Stearns I like and there's certain things that I don't like! This team needs to think big. They need Alonzo, they need guerrero also. Just take a look at the competition, look at the dodgers. Nothing's stops them from signing and signing and signing.

We can agree to disagree about Alonso. Its not just Stearns that doesnt like Pete. Cohen doesnt like him either to a lesser degree. Guerrero would be a great pickup and another top starter to boot. As long as you find a starter better then what we have its an improvment. Castillo, Cease or King would help. If you want a top starter get DeGrom back for 1 year only. He basically has a new arm. Hes the best when not injured.

The Dodgers made $300M more than the Mets last year. That’s why nothing is stopping them. Their payroll + tax bill is over $500M. The Mets would lose like $300M with that type of payroll like they did in 2023. You can’t expect Cohen to do that every year.
