We worse than last year at every part of this team lineup rotation and esp pen. Which will need to be so much better to compensate for a bunch of 5+ era 5 inning injury prone pitchers. It’s simple baseball.

@@Standdividedfalltogether Curious as to how the lineup got worse. With Soto in, and Alonso out, so far it looks like the lineup got slightly better and the pitching got worse. I’m figuring they either got slightly better, or broke even. Do you think they are that much worse? Genuinely curious as to where you’re coming from bc I just want to know if I’m missing something here.

@ I hear ya. I thought Soto too but look deeper. Siri in CF is worse, the bench is worse, they might have to move Vientos out of position which usually hurts offense and sophomore slumps are real when mlb catches up ( I do think he’ll be ok though) but that leaves 3rd open to who knows, second base is a question mark, and power number wise Pete has more than Soto but Soto gets on base more. Depends where in the lineup we’re looking. We need someone to mash with the 3 - 400 OBP guys we have. Also our pitching had 3 guys with around 3 eras all career years. Montas canning and Holmes are NOT doing that. This rotation now has their #1 who hasn’t pitched in 18 months. Manaea had the best year of his life and for 10 years before that did nothing close. Hopefully he’ll be close to what he did but how many guys have back back career years at 32? I can’t think of any. And Sevy was a beast for us replaced by a guy who has never started. And the pen has lost many arms, pretty much the ones that were good and we will need a solid pen with 3 guys with over 5+ eras. Last thing we want is 500 innings from guys with over 5 eras and a pen that has no reliable arms. We’ll never see Diaz. I’m sorry man this team this is what I thought we would see last year. Rookies and young guys making strides. By the ASB we could have 4 rookies / 2 nd year players in this lineup. 2B / 1B or 3B CF cuz no way is Siri staying as a starter hitting 170, and C Alverez has a lot to prove this year. Way too many question marks in a NL that is rediculously stacked. And we had so much luck and magic last year. I been watching this team 45 years and never saw that happen for a Mets team before. Can’t count on that happening again. I don’t see anywhere we’re better except Soto. They spent 800M on one player and now want a discount and low years for everyone else. It makes no sense. I truly think the Mets know they aren’t ready and are waiting for next year. We will have vlad (I’d bet my paycheck he’s a met) and 2 more young position players and 1-2 SP also ready to go next year. Also payroll drops another 40 mill next year to pay for vlad and after vlad we only at 225-230. So then we get an ace too and add Manaea and Senga and a couple young guys we looking good. It’s 2026 not 2025. Was supposed to be this year but becuase they over achieved last year and the kids in the minors were hurt or stepped back now we’re doing that next year. But it’ll be fun this year but in no way is this a WS team. I wish it was. I really do. Next year will be a WS team 100%. Let’s see who steps up and who develops this year. NL is too good and this rotation and pen aren’t gonna cut it. This lineup can’t score enough to make up for it. I hope I’m wrong. Praying I’m wrong. But I don’t see it. If u see where we’re better lemme know.

@@fr2ncm9 Vientos is a keeper. Btwn Marte, McNeil and our drafts, we should be able to make that trade and keep Vientos. Mariners need help $, we'll do that by taking Castillos contract

I think that Stearns is looking to get ahead of the MLB curve. Most teams are going with 6 man rotations or starters who won't pitch more than 4 innings. Why should you invest 200 million in a thirty-year-old starter? Even a mediocre pitcher can give you 4 serviceable innings. This is going to be the future of Baseball.

These pitchers are a bridge for when our young starters are ready, Sproat, McClean, and Tong. Santucci could move up the system very quickly. He was a consensus 1st round pick last year. He has the stuff to be a starter at the big-league level.
