We are finally blessed with a team that will respond when there is a need. I dont need the world on my plate now but i also dont need to see long term stints of Vogelback at DH either. I will have faith in our new leadership.

If I were Steve Cohen I’d hire you to work in the front office and host an in house podcast that might sometimes include interviews of the players and FO staff. My apologies to you that I am not him.

Only thing I question is the absurd amount of faith they're putting in Houser. Why is he pitching in high leverage situations?

He’s had more success than failure in the bullpen. 7 scoreless outings, but we’re always going to react to the bad ones before we talk about the good ones

I'm not sure who else we would have reasonably gone to in that situation. Surely you wouldn't prefer Ottavino.

They were down 2 runs in the 6th when he came into the game, that’s not high leverage

@@mamalannightshyaman I agree with you overall. But, in fairness, all his outings in July so far have been bad. The last two being really bad (4.1 IP 8 hits/6 ERs). After moving to the pen, he was really good in the entire month of June. So, I guess we'll see what he is moving forward.

I'm not convinced on pitchers Quintana, Severino & Hauser. I think Cohen should trade all three of them for two quality pitchers & one solid AAA ace pitcher. Let's Go Mets...😊

I'm not big mad at Mendoza over it, but I would've left McNeil in for that last AB, given the lefty-righty matchup and seeing McNeil hit doubles in back to back games.

I hope Quintana didn't hurt his trade value too much with this outing. Because I really think he is the guy the Mets would most like to move in a trade (assuming they trade a starter).

I don’t think one outing would hurt his value too much. But I also don’t know if Stearns wants to trade a starter away now that they’ll be going to a six-man rotation.

I think management has made costly mistakes from hitting, but definitely pitching from acquisitions to overall management. Most of the mistakes revolve around the player who WAS most likely to be named later in a trade. That being Mark Vientos & the infield is the main focus. 1. They didn’t give mark vientos even a chance at DH as Martinez had extended spring training 2. They kept a washed up defensive 3rd baseman who somehow forgot to play defense too long. We don’t know about iglesias, but we had Zack short who barely got a chance. 3. They kept Bret Baty who looks like a AAAA player as a hitter & defense, but didn’t use vientos to put pressure on the kid. They just waited too long with all 3 of these players. Pitching. Megill, Megill, Megill & howser, howser, howser. Bullpen reinforcements don’t come in time to save arms & 2 of the best arms they had are on the IL. Two major league arms are out for the season. 1. Howser was a 6th or 7th pitcher expected to pitch every 5 days. Overall he is much better at long relief or opener role. 2.Same for Megill. Instead they pitched every 5 days for far too long & the Mets had to battle in those games 4-6 runs to tie the game 3. Lack of creativity with pitchers who average 5 innings. Buto, Megill, & howser all could offer long relief/opener. 4. The bullpen is not filled with quality arms bc 2 of their best pitchers are on the IL. Garret was a force & the Mets allowed him to be in as many games until his arm fell off. a. Bringiing/keeping older relievers has been costly in effectiveness & health sometimes both. Ottavino & the lefty who is worth a bag of balls have been atrocious. 5. Wasted innings from their best prospect. He hasn’t looked sharp since being called up again, but he was accumulating innings in meaningless AAA games. This is why I think the Mets haven’t played well & manage has costed them games, imho.

Kid looks like he can be great in the future and I wish he does but I truly feel like the Mets need more arms and the should have drafted a pitcher.

Fix that bullpen. Now. Today. We're right in the middle of it, but will fail as long as Diekman and Houser are handed the ball with the game on the line. Ottovino is the flip of a coin.

I’d be shocked if Stearns allows Diekman and Ottavino to remain in the bullpen through the trade deadline. Houser as well. I think all three of them are easily replaceable.

_[This bracing shot of reality is likely to piss you off. 🤷🏽‍♂️]_ I think everyone should settle down a little and be realistic. The Mets started 0-5, then went 12-3, 10-25, and 25-11. This recent hot streak has come almost entirely against sub-.500 teams and teams going through struggles (i.e. the Yankees). The one hot team they played was Houston, and they lost 2 of 3. They barely split two with PHI in London, which tells us nothing. The pitching is bad. Fans think Severino is an ace, even though he’s basically been a slightly worse version of 2022 Taijuan Walker. José Quintana is, at best, a #5 starter. Christian Scott is clearly still figuring it out. The Mets don’t have an ace-no, not even Senga. And who knows how effective he’ll be, or whether he’ll make a couple of starts, reinjure his shoulder, and end up needing surgery. The majority of the remaining schedule (39 of 67 games, I believe) comes against teams at or above .500. I'm still skeptical that this team can win more than ~83 games, and I think it's very possible that they end up winning 75 or fewer, because they’re likely to stumble against good teams.
