Christian Scott had a solid Citi Field debut in his first Mets home start. Scott struck out eight over six innings with the only real blemish coming on a two-run homer to Orlando Arcia in the third. J.D. Martinez's solo home run in the ninth broke up a combined no-hit bid by Max Fried and the Braves bullpen but Atlanta did prevail 4-1.

​@@tycorbson9651 You're wrong on this one. For context, in 2002, the Cubs were #1 in the League in average fastball velo at 91.7 mph. In 2021, they were in last place at an average 91.6 mph fastball velo. If that doesn't put it into perspective for you, I don't know what will. Sure, there are probably some outliers, but the fact is average velo was WAY lower than it used to be. Average fastball velo in 2002 was 89mph. What makes you think it was higher in 1992? In 1972? In 1952? If anything, radars have forced teams to sign pitchers who can throw faster, since now we can track velocity as its own stat.

@@cygnusedge6847 There were many pitchers clocked at over 100 before 2000. Sure radar technology has improved but still no excuse for pitch counts ruining baseball.
