I’m liking it- looks like a nice option for kindling and bundle firewood.

I’ve found that you’d be best to turn the cut foot part and split the freshly cut end rather than the older cut end. Palax Combi MII user

Not sure there is much advantage with the perfect split when the 12 way works that well. Great demo and yeah no way you can get hurt with the guards in place
@bwillan2 жыл бұрын
That 12 way could use a few extra tons of splitting force. It seemed to struggle a bit. If you're getting to the point where you're splitting with an 8 way or 12 way regularly, the perfect split box wedge is probably a better choice.
@MetsaMachines2 жыл бұрын
The 12 way is meant for soft wood or real straight grain stuff. So I agree with you, a little extra tonnage would yield better performance especially in hardwood.

@@MetsaMachines Still pretty impressive for the tonnage...
@MS-Fin19172 жыл бұрын
The last piece was a branching one, which makes it very tough to split even to two halves - actually I didn't expect it to split with that 12 way knife. Of course, more tonnage would always help, but it would also mean more expensive design and more energy consumption. Unless much of the wood is such branching hardwood required to split with 12 way knife, I'd see little justification for more power.
@MetsaMachines2 жыл бұрын
More power isn't only more expensive but typically means a slower split cycle, and we love the Japa processors because of how fast they are.

Very interesting option. Would allow you to make some small stuff and bigger pieces at once. I’m still partial to the perfect split system over that wedge. But it’s an extra option for some one else. For your power unit, does Japa offer a remote or cable control you can string to the processor? It would be nice to control it from the processor area, but I guess it’s no different than having a tractor run it. Thanks for the video guys. Have a great weekend!

The power unit is something we just use at trade shows so we don’t need to arrange to have a tractor for our PTO units. For what it costs you could buy a small tractor, so we don’t even keep current pricing on it.

Thanks for not editing out a real world application. It powered through with a bit of a struggle but it did split that nasty one.

We always want to be honest with how we portray our product's capabilities. The last thing we want to do is sell someone a processor that can't do what they need it to do. Thanks for watching!

Are these sold in New Zealand?
@MetsaMachines Жыл бұрын
Currently, there aren't any dealers or importers in New Zealand. If you are serious about trying to get one, we would recommend reaching out to Japa directly: japa.fi/en/

We are hoping to introduce some trailer packages for the larger processors late 2023.

The 395 has how much tons? Does the 405 have more power? Is the 12 way available for the 405?
@MetsaMachines Жыл бұрын
They both have the same tonnage at 12.5 tons. The 405 uses the same 12-way knife as the 395 but, as we say, it's important to keep in mind that it is designed for straight grain / soft wood.

@@MetsaMachines Great, thanks. It’s astonishing that this machine has that “small” cylinders compared to what is sold in the US for simple wood splitters. In Germany the normal splitters are equipped with 7 or 8 ton cylinders, 12 ton are “powerful”. Therefore it is great to see, what 12 tons really can do. We will continue on with saw and splitter for at least one year. In near future (3-5 yeas) our Woodward will get closed by owner (house will be demolished) and we will need to move. This might be the moment when we will change system as well, I guess. I am pending between Posch from Austria and Japa…

I am sorry, but though being a 🇫🇮 I don't get excited about that 12-way. I'm sure it works but those "box-things" in the middle could present challenges with more knotty wood. Hakki 55 has interchangeable wedges, but regarding traditional wedges I would say "🍕" or PerfectSplit... But this is my opinion, other people may (probably) have a better thought...
