The measurement of the dropping point of lubricants and greases is an important test to assess the quality of these materials, as it establishes the maximum usable temperature of the grease. The dropping point ranges from 80° to 300° and varies depending on the type of lubricant (base oil and additive) and the thickener.
METTLER TOLEDO's dropping point instruments are digital and comply with standards such as ASTM D 127, ASTM D 3954, and IP 396. With these instruments, the measurement is automatic, making sample preparation the most important part of the measurement process.
In this video, we'll walk you through the process of preparing grease and lubricant samples for dropping point measurements using METTLER TOLEDO instruments.
➡️Additionally, check out the videos below that detail the sample preparation process for dropping and softening point for samples such as asphalt, bitumen, pitch, wax, lipstick, liquids, powders, resins, rosins, grease, and lubricants.
