Outstanding entertainer Very much underrated he had incredible talent and people never realized it till years later! Me T V and INSP stations should run the color episodes of Gunsmoke from 1966-1967 right up to 1975, they were much better!!!!

These are the MEN that made the difference Love him He was always a comfort He had our thoughts and the comical approach is what was admired. To think of him and James and let’s not forget all the movies he participated in with people like “The Duke” History in mannerisms The ones that work at it and the ones that just take ahold of yah. Yes, he was a great singer. 1st (that I know of) was "Sons of the Pioneers" w/Roy Rogers & his 'crew'. Also sang @ The "Met Opera House", w/full Orchestra. Was also a Philosepher, a true Renaisance man, Married for a long time, a Very intelligent man, wrote Many a song for Roy Rogers, Dale Evans & others. There's a pretty good Bio of Him on "IMDB" (" he began his show business career as a singer in the big-band era, and was a vocalist in the legendary Tommy Dorsey orchestra.") Check it out. (Curtis was Also related to John Ford, the 'Bestus' (like Festus) of "Western Films" writer, director, film maker & producer) No surprise that They're related.

The one I liked was, Festus and Doc are in the Salon. Festus is having coffee ... he is spooning in sugar one 'fater' the other, real slow but not stopping. Doc says, " Fetus , why you puttin' in all that sugar". Festus replyin' " Doc, you know I don't have the money to have sugar at home in the mornin' when I'm a makin' it. So's when you buy me a cup here, I'm a likin' to make up for all the time I'm a not havin' it." There is silence, and Festus takes a sip of his coffee. " but yah know , Doc?, they sure as don't make a good cup of coffee here." Doc's eyebrows move. That's all.

I originally saw Ken as his Festas character on Have Gun Will Travel on tv the character was called Monk and if Paladin would have shot him then we would have to put up with him on Gunsmoke I enjoyed Dennis W character of Chester much mo and on radio and the radio actor who played Chester was also better nuff said
