El 25 de abril de 1811, se insurreccionaron los indígenas metzcas, pero fueron derrotados.

Hola Alberto. As usual I enjoyed watching your video, especially since it was partially about the great convento in Metztitlan. I visited Metztitlan in 1977, before some of the misfortunes you mentioned befell this beautiful old convento of Los Santos Reyes. You showed some of the stabilizing repairs. It seems to me that the patio of the cloister is different. I remember more plants, and experiencing an amazing sense of calm as I sat in the patio. The atrium may have had some work done on it too. Located on a hill overlooking the town, it has an imposing presence and one of the best views of any convento in Mexico. It still has its full compliment of gilt retablos (I guess the church was too isolated to be remodeled in the last part of the 19th century). It is definitely worth the trip to visit it. In 1977 I think there was one hotel and one restaurant. The room was very basic but good enough (at least it was after the hotel clerk killed the mosquitos with a big dose of DDT), and the restaurant served anything you wanted, as long as you wanted dried bistec. It had the consistency of beef jerky. I recall they were out of friloles y arroz. It's a shame about the condition of La Comunidad. When I was there it served as the local jail. Even so security was very lax and it was possible to climb onto the roof of the one story cloister and look down into the patio and the doors to the cells. It was in bad shape then and needed some stabilizing work The friars certainly made sure that the flood that ruined La Comunidad would never threaten Los Santos reyes. Nothing less than a flood of Biblical proportion could threaten the new convento overlooking the town. A similar fate struck Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion in Caborca,, Sonora.The current wreck dates from the first decade of the 19th cenyury, and even though the padres thought that their new location was far enough from the river to be safe they were in error. Today the rear half of the church and adjacent buildings, built solidly of stone and brick, have been washed away by the often dry river. The sizable church had two large bell towers, a dome and a fairly elaborate facade. At least the facade and bell towers survive, along with some of the nave. The one structure I did not see in this video was the Tecpan, the original house for the Indian government. Did you show it in another video? I haven't searched through all of your videos to find out. It is a two room stone structure, perhaps predating Los Santos Reyes, with gargoyles in the shape of animals. Very few such structures survive in Mexico and all need to be preserved. I don't remember exactly where it was located but probably not far from la Comunidad. How about William, it really was difficult to spend the night in this place as you tell me, now there are no mosquitoes because the lake has dried up hehe and there is no DDT with those hand pumps with which we used to fight them. Now there are very nice places to stay, a little before arriving there is a place called los bambus and it is really comfortable. Note that I have not seen that part of the stone that you mention and therefore I have not taken it in my two videos that I have, the day I return I will look for it especially to see if it still exists, I have been on treatment and diet for 9 days now ; Yesterday I felt almost recovered, but I don't understand why today I woke up with pain in my foot again if I haven't violated the diet, I hope to be well soon, even so, on Saturday we went to Chilcuautla for the festival of kites and balloons in Cantoya, last video that I uploaded, although I got home around 12 at night very tired and hurt my foot hehe.
