This type of video is better than a reaction video I feel like. It also defines who you are as a content creator, not looking for cheap views by not just screaming when seeing a new card because it is so busted. On that topic Mew and Vaporeon seem quite overtuned. Vaporeon you can't really play around because it needs basically no setup, so you have to be scared of every single pokemon (and energy) they have. And Mew basically negates Charizard, Arcanine, Dragonite, Mewtwo, etc. completely like you said. It's also a basic like Pikachu and Mewtwo, so you can draw it often with Pokeball.
@crow_7717Ай бұрын
Really not sweating over the mew. You can easily tweak charizard and mewtwo. The real problem is vaporeon
@EcnoTheNeatoАй бұрын
Was also curious about "from the Energy Zone" effects. So I made a Water and Onix deck with Brock and Misty, but with FIRE as the Deck Energy. Tested in Solo Battles. Happy to report that "Energy Zone" is a nebulous thing, and not set, as both cards allowed me to pull energies that didn't "start" in my deck! So New Egg should allow you to splash Exeggcute into non-grass decks assuming you can get away with using a turn to gather energy before evolving.

Considering that Celebi EX is confirmed as a Mew counterpart, my prediction is that we’ll also get Red Support as counterpart to Leaf… and a greedier prediction: other eevolutions with abilities
@craigtothecАй бұрын
I hope Red is something like "Draw a stage 1 pokemon from your deck" to help consistency with 3 stage evolution lines.
@DonQ94Ай бұрын
@@craigtothec Seems appealing at first, but its important to consider that the big boy decks in the meta get significantly stronger as well through that mechanic since they also have stage 3 mons.
@craigtothecАй бұрын
@@DonQ94 True, but if it was worded in a way that could only draw middle evolutions. It wouldn't help Pikachu decks at all, and Mew EX is already gonna be a great counter for the other big boys, so I'm not too concerned about it affecting balance negatively.

With Professor's Research being as strong and ubiquitous as it is and the deck size being 20, I wonder if/when we will reach a point that decks wont be 18 cards plus research (if ever). My guess is that the only supporters that could replace research (if they aren't run alongside each other) would be other situational draw supporters that maybe will synergize with specific pokemon lines. Can't wait to see more!
@jeff3221Ай бұрын
@TryhardSnake I agree. At the moment, Professor's Research is just Pot of Greed good. Chopping an already small deck format down by 10%, getting +1 card economy for using it. Card is just going to be used forever unless it is banned or powercrept
@TryhardSnakeАй бұрын
@@jeff3221 the only reason it works in Pokemon is because you are restricted to one supporter a turn. That’s still so strong here. Now that I think about it, I’m surprised we got this from the beginning. For example, I think drawing 2 and discarding 1 would still be good. Hard to see how they could power creep it but there’s a thin line there I’m sure they must be aware of before it becomes a disaster. Cards being a 100% include for every single deck tend to not be a healthy thing in a card game. I could see sidegrades to poke ball being made that bump poke ball out of that ubiquity without being broken, but I don’t see it being possible for research. @lucianofrancesco4742Ай бұрын
Exeggcute could be played in a no grass energy deck, I believe, but it wouldn't be a good idea. Exeggutor's biggest strenght is the potential 80 damage on turn 3, having to use Exeggcute's move first makes it very subsceptible to a KO. Not to mention that no grass energy means you can't evolve your benched Eggys, because they wouldn't be able to ever attack. This card is only really useful in a double energy deck, when you're going second, which is still not terrible, but the 20 missing damage could be relevant in some matchups.
@jamesbeam85Ай бұрын
I can’t wait to try mew with alakazam I don’t know if it’ll be good but I’ll have fun trying
@edsylan2275Ай бұрын
to answer some of your questions what happens if mew ex copies mewtwo ex's or charizard ex's attack: if it works like the regular tcg, copying psydrive without psychic energy means you do 150 damage and don't discard any energy, same with crimson storm, if you don't have fire energy you do 200 and don't discard. Can you use exeggcute's attack without selecting grass energy for your deck?: yes, this has been proven with cards like brock, misty and magneton. You can play exeggcute and exeggcutor without grass energy if you want to rely on exeggcute's as your only way to get grass energy.
@sevyverseАй бұрын
the goat pocket content creator!! also, with the exeggcute, i believe it will allow you to run a completely separate energy alone rather than having to run grass energy. it's comparable to brock's utility and i know for a fact you do not need to use fighting energy in your deck to "attach a fighting energy from the energy zone".

To answer the question you brought up at 4:47, you do not need the Grass type energy in your pool to be able to pull it out. Brock pulls a Fighting type energy from the energy pool, but you can run a deck without Fighting type energy and you still get to pull the free Fighting type energy to put it on Golem or Onix. Since it's the same wording, I assume the new Exeggcute will work the same.

I think maybe blue will be able to make a melmetal deck functional. As it stands right now, his ability is not good enough because a mewtwo attack can knock out melmetal exactly. While with blue he would survive with 10 hp. Additionaly blue is much more effective if your pokemon already has damage reduction in it.
@voychoi9923Ай бұрын
That's true but i think it's just better to play Mew instead as it can improve the Charizard matchup as well.

@pelidesachilles824Ай бұрын
@@voychoi9923 mew instead of what? instead of blue or instead of melmetal? And I probably would not bother trying to become playable vs charizard as melmetal, having 1 weak deck vs your deck is ok. the reason melmetal is a bad deck at the moment is because it is weak vs mewtwo and charizard, and still below 50% winrate vs pikatchu. Making it just all around a back choice. But with blue I could see a world where melmetal becomes 50% or maybe slightly higher vs pikatchu and decent into mewtwo. and really good vs almost everything else but charizard.
