I was born on 1-Deer. It’s extremely accurate for me! I cannot believe how accurate it is! I am influenced by Cihuateteo, who are spirits of women whom died in childbirth. Well, I worked as a registered nurse delivering babies! I love every minute of it. I also am closely related to Itzpapalotl, who protects midwives and women in labor, and I have worked with a midwife, and many women in labor! Also, I escort warriors that died in combat. Well, I was in the military and my husband still is. I also am rulled by Tlaloc. I often have pain when it rains or a thunderstorm is coming. I feel it well ahead of time and am very sensitive to energy! There is more, but this is crazy accurate for me. Thanks!

Does the xihuitl have any significance? Curious why it's not included in the tonalli. Thank you for all your work!!

Not technically, no but there are some exceptions. The xiuhpohualli components are more altepetl-focused. Lately I have been including them in my tonalli readings though because it is cool to know the nature of the year and day of month we were born on and people can also find connections to these components. Did you know even the year we were born on is assigned a patron Teotl?? Here is one exception I am aware of: People who were born during the Nemontemi were actually given specific names such as Nemo or Nemoquich. So in some cases, the xiuhpohualli component can influence the tonalli.

@Itztli Ehecatl Very interesting. I assumed the years signs had the same patron as the corresponding day signs. Same with the number of the year correlating to the respective trecena number. What do you mean by alttepetl-focused?

@@rogerwon1011 The government back in pre-columbian times would conduct all of the ceremonies for the years and the months such as the 52 year new fire ceremony, the great feast of the dead etc... These ceremonies were altepetl-focused because everyone in the altepetl participated but the government was in charge. The tonalli and trecena are more person-focused if that makes sense. Hi Kevin - In our tradition, people had two names: the calendar name and the personal name. In the example I gave in the video, the calendar name for people born on that day would be Chikome Tochtli. The personal name was given once the person's personality became clearer as they grew such as Ollacatl or Rubber Man, Motolinia or He Torments Himself, Acopa or He/She Who Moves Upwards etc...A list of both calendar and personal names documented after the spanish conquest can be found here: www.calmecacanahuac.com/blog/uncategorized/pre-cuauhtemoc-nahuatl-names/

@@MexicaUprising I’m a little bit confused because I’m wondering where the name Chikome is coming from. I was looking for it in the example you gave but couldn’t find it. I’m also not sure what it means.

@@BooRawrGrr Chicome = 7 and Tochtli = Rabbit. Each tonalli is a combination of a numeral 1-13 and one of 20 days.
