Jesus Christ! At least learn to say "No hablo español". By repeating his question of "No habla español?" you are telling him that HE doesn't speak Spanish. He's a Mexican Army soldier in Mexico, he has no reason to speak English, you should at least learn a few basics if you are going to be traveling in Mexico. I have traveled all over Mexico, as far south as Chiapas very close to the Guatemalan border and in all the checkpoints maned by the army that I have come across I have never encountered rude or un-professional treatment.

I doubt there is much I wish to tell the Mexican Army at a US subsidized Checkpoint. Usually talking gets people in trouble.
@majalca0310 жыл бұрын
Robert Trudell I doubt that you could give me pointers about what to say and not say at a Mexican Army checkpoint. As for "U.S. subsidized" checkpoint, ... one, b.s., I have no idea what you meant by that, that U.S. citizens should have special privileges in Mexico for this reason? I do hope you look into Mexican laws regarding filming troops and law enforcement officials as your U.S. constitutional rights seize to exist once you cross the international border.
@yuma31010 жыл бұрын
Fremen Warrior I suggest the US Government bypasses their own Constitution by subsidizing other Nation's Military and Law Enforcement. I didn't mean to suggest it provides more privileges for US Citizens. I meant it takes Rights away from all. This way our Government sidesteps their own Constitutional obstacles.
@majalca0310 жыл бұрын
Robert Trudell U.S. subsidies towards the Mexican military are minimal at best. Mexico in the past years has increased it's own military spending, I won't say at a substantial rate, it still spends 1/100 of what the U.S. spends, but it has increased spending in that area. I sincerely doubt those checkpoints are U.S. subsidized.

+streak88s I've lived in Mexico for almost a decade and no, I learned the language because I wanted, not because I needed to do so in order to live here. Mexicans actually are so welcoming that they try hard to speak whatever language you come from so you can feel at home; the family next door even downloaded a Hebrew dictionary so they could greet me in Hebrew instead of English which they had used up to that point with the help of a small and very basic - elementary school level dictionary. So, yes, in my experience, only in the States, on the more conservative places in the States, people force you to speak English, even if you're just a tourist, that's why I like the so called Blue States better, except for Texas; while it's a Red State it's way more civilized than the other Red ones.

Look, I understand the whole "I go where I please" stuff but c'mon...at least show some respect...let's not look like a whole bunch of beer drinking American stereotypes. When going to abother country, it's their customs, their language.

roygrem I drove through with no intention of stopping. This U.S. subsidized Mexican Army Checkpoint wouldn't exist without the Imperialistic steps the USA makes.I simply drove through to film the U.S. Border Wall along the Highway. I don't need to speak the language. I trip myself up on the several I do know.

The entire trip is available at: www.yuma310.com/mexican_federal_highway_2.htm I Video Mapped the road from Gila Bend to Ajo to Lukeville, Arizona into Sonoyta, Mexico and followed the US Border Fence to Los Algodones, Mexico into the Andrade Port of Entry and back home to Yuma, Arizona and covered it in a 360 degree perspective outside the vehicle and in. Noting the Back to Back to Back Immigration Stops on the AZ SR 85 Highway in Ajo, Arizona inspired me to come back and now I live here. I animated my imaginary Checkpoint Scene as an ASU Class project and decided I'd come back and film the U.S. Border Patrol Agents dancing in real life. Here's my claymation version: outpost81.com/mr_lizard.html

I run into problems at the U.S. Port of Entry and Arizona Western College Football games though some Mexican Police from San Luis Rio Colorado tried erasing my photos and videos of them too. AWC Game: www.outpost81.com/police_report/ San Luis Rio Colorado Police: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2GypmyQmNGHic0 The TOPD claim its illegal for me to take pictures from a public highway and the Border Patrol says the same for the Indian Nation the size of Connecticut. Here are a few run ins with them lying and exaggerating about laws: www.ajorocks.com/tohono_oodham_police.htm and: ajorocks.com/border_wall.htm This Officer nearly got me fired for taking pictures along the US 95 Highway when my car broke down on the way to work: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5OUaKeDobGrhKM and got me an interview with the FBI that they ended up pulling up during this Stop: www.yuma310.com/campo_border_patrol_station.htm I learned there's more to fear from the U.S. Government's system designed to interfere with peoples jobs than lawless soldiers in Mexico.

Well, you obediently got off your car (1:10) and didn't resist to follow up his orders. Not to mention that you had your windows rolled down already. That's What I am talking about, but here with DHS you just don't give a F$%#@. Why? On the other hand, go back to Mexico and play being stupid again. And when they break your window and throw in jail I am sure you will be calling the US embassy for help to get you out (the same government you dislike here). You were lucky it was the army, had they been judicial state troopers or Federales and you had not complied, you still be there, if any. Yet you insist in playing stupid, you seem not to get it and having this kind of "conversation" with you is senseless and useless. good luck in Mexico next time.

When in Rome.....You no habla español however you knew what he meant when he asked you, de donde viene? and you said Ajo. And the first guy said: 00:08 are yo a journalist? 00:10 you don't understand (Spanish of course). 00:20 What are we going to do? (with the language barrier) The second one says: 1:00 Good afternoon, allow me to search your vehicle, are you recording? But that's irrelevant, the point here is that you complied unlike DHS check points here in the US. And you better follow the laws
