It is clear to us Californians why Mexican rap artists weren't invited to the pop-out with friends show. It was not about them on Juneteenth. More importantly, in addition to their being from Compton and surrounding LA areas, “They Not Like Us” is a Cali song specifically that represents the street and hood politics of how we move. They're distraught that they didn't think to do something of this magnitude on Cinco De Mayo.
@S.412-q3q3 ай бұрын
I assumed "NOT LIKE US" was much greater than that. The culture is bigger than just LA my love. At least that is what "BLACK" ppl got from it. Especially in a hip hop form that started on the other side of the country. Don't minimize it by thinking "NOT LIKE US" just united LA. Black Americans are much larger than LA, don't divide. Kendrick united us all. That's real love.

It’s not about the gang politics in California . Not like Us is about black culture in America with no chaser. The song just has a Westcoat vibe that we can C walk on. lol.

How did she divide? Being from the East Coast, more specifically NYC, I understood she pointed out Cali politics between Blacks and Latinos, specifically the Mexicans. All the elements of a great Cali song were there, from beats to flow to the message, so it will now become their national anthem. It's cool and similar to when Pac made California Love. Yes, I know Pac was born in NYC. Still, It was a song that was their national anthem for a while, even if other coasts and black people enjoyed it. I’m still going to bump it from my end without being offended by statements of the black people who live under the politics of Cali. For the collective of black people, it means one thing, while for black Californians, it means much more. Remember, two things can be true, which applies to her comment.

I seen something where Afro Latinos celebrate Juneteenth or (día de los negros) in Mexico I believe the place is called Nacimiento de los negros in Coahuila. Besides that the people in the clip of that podcast didn’t even know what Juneteenth was even about yet they were crying over exclusion?
