it was a very nice feeling. it took years to win him and a lot of hard work tbh. at first it was so challenging to communicate with him because of my lack of japanese skill + his kyoto dialect is very strong!! he is also a very pragmatic person, and very smart so he loves to talk about things i'm not too strong at like politics, economics, current news etc. i'm weak in these topics by themselves, now try to speak about them in japanese, lol. but with the years, and so many things experienced together we are very comfortable with each other, so to be honest it was a very very happy moment for me when he introduced me like that to the family

@@PaulyWally30big families in Latin America are like that as well, we met once a year, normally during our birthday or on the grandpa's funeral service. The thing in common with Asians is that even the cousins of our parents are considered family, and that simply doesn't happen in Europe or the US, usually they consider them outsiders. That's the similarity OP was referring to.
@PaulyWally30
@PaulyWally30 Жыл бұрын
@@eduardelric That is not accurate. I hate to be Mr. Negative, but in my own experience and with what I've witnessed with others, Asians tend to be very cold and not very family-oriented. Perhaps the ones who have been Westernized are, but Eastern culture is very distant, serious, and cold. The only ones who are the exception are the Philippines, due to their integration into Western society through the Spanish empire. Which are very similar to Latin countries. They are the Hispanic Asians.

thank you romero!! while not completely the same, there are a lot of similarities for sure, especially after we go across the wall of insider/outsider. the way things look like from the outside is definitely different from when you are on the inside. but in the end, i am very blessed and happy with my extended family. in the end i do feel that my japanese family is as family oriented as my mexican one. they just express it in different ways.

@@PaulyWally30this is so untrue. I’ve been around many different Asian households from Chinese, Cambodian, Laos, Hmong, Mien, Vietnamese, Thai, and Filipino. All were family oriented and had many cousins and family friends gather together to celebrate events like birthday, new years (lunar or other new years), etc. my wife is Vietnamese and when we visit Vietnam, they are the complete opposite of what you are claiming Asian families are.

this is something i noticed is very common in japanese society; when you're part of a social circle like a friendship group, an academic environment or a workplace environment (or even an in-law family like in this video) everyone will emphasize the fact that you're a foreigner more than anything else about you and maybe even let that define you. in most other countries like china or korea people will just be all like "oh they're a foreigner, whatever i guess" and won't care as much, but in japan the most important and relevant part about you is the fact that you're not japanese, automatically making your role in the group "the foreigner"
@AdanSensei
@AdanSensei 10 ай бұрын
yo cool! totally agree on what you said :)!! it definitely is a thing that just sticks out because it's the easiest one to see. thankfully it hasn't defined me and it is just the beginning for me to get to know them and them to get to know me... but i definitely know a lot of people that live in this shadow of "he's the foreigner"... my defining feature i would say is "the high energy guy, loves to study a ton of stuff, life of the party", the foreigner is just the intro XD!

Correcto. Incluso durante el discurso del hijo del fallecido, explica los 6 caminos que puede tomar un alma despues de morir: humanidad, cielo, infierno, almas hambrientas, animales y demonios. Y esa es una característica innata del budismo, en (casi) todas sus formas.

A lot of bloggers, articles, vloggers, youtubers, etc. A long time made it seem like japanese only love white European culture. See your channel and a few others. It's nice to see that Hispanics are also welcomed and are interested.
@AdanSensei
@AdanSensei Жыл бұрын
yeah, that has definitely not been my experience at all. fun fact, my wife is not into white guys much either even though she was approached by them a lot before we dated. she finds dark/brown skin more attractive. the thing to keep in mind is to have a good respect and understanding for the culture, polish our social skills and our appearance to the best we can and anyone has a decent shot.
@mrsimpleslowmo
@mrsimpleslowmo 9 ай бұрын
They like europeans more, no one said they don't love your culture. His wife is not into white guys but if you go to a japanese datings sites, %90 of them prefer white guys. Hispanic depends on what kinds of hispanic they are

5:52 As far as I know, what you were reading is a chinese text with old japanese pronunciation, as a lot of budism(Sinoism) was brought and adopted from China. Think of it as reading a classical latin text in a Chatolic mass. You could pik and understand some words, but you lost the full meaning.
@AdanSensei
@AdanSensei Жыл бұрын
Saludos olga!! Muchas gracias por tu bonito comentario. Que buen ojo tienes, si la verdad la gente mayor mientras la respetamos ellos se abren muy bien y se sentia mucho como dices a nuestra cultura latina. Great way of comparing what it was like with the reading the old chinese text!! Definitely feels like classical latin on steroids hahaha! It was definitely a fun experience though ^^

I think my favorite parts of this video are: 1.) when the family is introduced as “Adan and his wife,” and 2.) at the very end as everyone is leaving. Not a single, elderly person passed on the opportunity to remind him he has a responsibility to his wife/child. The number of times someone told him, “I’m counting on you,” or some version of that, was likely 3x as much as we actually got to view. Hilarious, lovely to see, and looking forward to more content:)

Claro que siempre ayuda mucho saber el lenguaje, el lenguaje es lo principal de un grupo, una comunidad, una población. Es bien bonito ver algo así.
