Mexican Telecaster Upgrades - Part #2 Bridge & Pickup

Hey Guitar Dudes & Dudettes! Thanks for checking out the video! Today I'm upgrading the bridge on my Mexican made Telecaster to a vintage style with brass compensated saddles from Wilkinson, and installing a Fender American made V-Mod bridge pickup!

The NEW neck and bridge pickups my be very different from the old one and need very different adjustments. If they are just like the old pickups... maybe no change. But if either pickup that is new is different the adjustment will be new....

You dont need to take out the saddles. Just loose the adjustement screw enough to be abble to flip them in their side, instead of completely remove them😉

I came across your video because I’m contemplating doing the reverse of what your doing lol. I have already installed a new ashtray bridge with the sides cut away and I like it better that the original ashtray bridge with the full sides but I’m thinking a modern bridge might be even more comfortable to play. I just received the new modern one so now I’m just trying to see if I want to go to the trouble of installing it.

Or you can do like me and have no idea the pickup in the bridge won’t be held to anything when the plate comes off. But it’s okay. Once everything is screwed back down, the pickup seems happy.

Crazy I have bought hundreds of pickguards, I use to buy blank pickguards and cut them for different pickups and sell them online, I never had a warped chinese made pickguard

Would the fender American pro bridge fit if you drilled new holes or would it not work at all?

I have a 2015 mim tele too, do you know why do they have 3 holes below the pickguard?

I believe those are there so the CNC machines that cut the body have a reference point, and to also lighten the body some.

Why couldn't you put the Fender licensed bridge on? Is there a 3 saddle fender bridge that will fit a Mexican Telecaster? Sorry I'm late here🤟

Not that would fit without drilling new holes. The bridge I used was the only direct replacement I could find.

@@BrianSGuitars I've done more digging friend! The American Vintage 3 saddle is a direct drop in for MIM but will not fit American pro Teles. The American Pro is different and therefore, will not fit Mexican made instruments 👍
