Philippines and Mexico shared so much in culture and similarities in food not only because both are part of the colonies of Spain but because Philippines was from 1565 to 1821, governed by Spain through the Viceroy of Mexico (as part of the Mexican-based Viceroyalty of New Spain) until the Mexican War of Independence. So much Mexican influence arrived to the Philippines via the Spanish sanctioned Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade.

Not really. Filipinos just want to become more like Spanish like their national hero who love Spain so much. Mexican Food and Filipino food are so different from each other. Avocado is more of desser in Philippines. No Guacamole. Philippines have very simple dishes. Like Chinese Lumpia and Chinese Canton noodles and Chinese Adobo. But Philippines have also great food items. But it is so different from Tacos, Cervesas, Cactus, Burittos, and salsa.

I just love watching your videos on Filipino food. It makes me so proud and happy to know that people of other cultures enjoy food that I grew up with. I agree, Filipino food is so underrated. I grew up in the U.S., but with parents who are from the Philippines - I’ll be forever grateful to my parents who stayed true to their roots and raised their children to know their culture. Filipino food is simple yet so comforting and you can feel all the love poured into the dishes - that’s why it’s so delicious. Thank you for promoting the Filipino culture! Actually... influence went both ways, a lot of things from the Philippines got exported to other parts of the Spanish empire. Spices and cooking methods from Asia got exported to the Americas and vice versa.

Since you love suka I really recommend trying the pinakurat brand! It’s SO good! It is a little hard to find here in the US unfortunately but if you ever come across it at any Asian grocery store you should give it a go. It’s my number one request from my mom whenever she goes to the Filipino store bc we’re always running out of it 😂

I’m in chino hills a lot and have eaten there with my fam a couple times 😊 If you don’t mind the drive back to chino Hills, you guys have got to try Take Your Seat! It’s a Filipino breakfast brunch place and coming from a fellow foodie, one of my fav places for brunch! If you end up there, their Belly to Belly rice plate and pandan sweet tea (free refills!). I hope you get to try it!!! 🫶🏼
