Hi, I just happened to see your message come through this evening as I was working on another project online so you gave me an excuse to take a short break. Thanks! Yes, I have always been impressed with the bus systems throughout Mexico. I have been on quite a few over the years. From Mexico City to Acapulco, San Luis Potosi, Veracruz, Queretaro, Puebla, Toluca. From Veracruz to Morelia, Puerto Escondido, Matamoros, Puebla, Villahermosa, and Oaxaca. From San Luis Potosi to Zacatecas to Durango to Mazatlan, and SLP to Guanajuato. From Guadalajara to Colima. From Palenque to Villahermosa. From Huatulco to Puerto Escondido. So as you can see, I have had plenty of experience on buses throughout Mexico. Have fun on your trip, enjoy your bus rides, and stay in touch. See you in Mexico!

I been on buses from Tijuana to Mazatlan, Sinaloa for 4 years and I never got my stuff stolen or got hurt. I been in the bus overnight. I been through the route that goes from Baja California and right through Sonora and all the way to Sinaloa. Did you know that Sinaloa is one of the most dangerous states in Mexico and it's considered a No Go Zone by the US Travel Warning. But I still go there every year.

I love traveling by bus to Mexico! Trust me I go 1 whole day and twelve hours on the bus! Honestly it’s fun! They put movies, talk, you can talk to the person next to you! Lucky for me the busses I take have free fast WiFi!! You have you own personal light to turn off or a air vent! I always get a nice old lady sitting next to me and I talk for hours with them! Just a little tip on getting pick pocketed, I’m not scared because the bus drivers have money to give them they are prepared! Plus if your scared of dying or losing ur money or whatever just know your not alone it’s about 30 people or more on that bus

@wd5iah6 жыл бұрын
yes, they have all types like in Mexico, however they have lots of long distance buses, double floored with first class on bottom. I like Bolivariano the best, better than flota magdalena, have not tried the others. Many videos on the internet on bus travel in South America, but to see all the smaller towns you have to take short distance bus, I take what they call Aerovans, Mercedes Sprinters for short trips.

Hi. Thanks for your message! Your are leaving on the 2nd for Mexico City and I am leaving for Veracruz on the 1st; but by plane. I can relate to riding buses from Chicago. One time I rode buses all the way from the Greyhound Station in Chicago to Brownsville, TX. Then I switched to the Mexican bus line; ADO and traveled all the way to the city of Veracruz. I also reversed my route later when I returned to Chicago. My conclusion after doing this was simple. Greyhound Sucks! The bus companies in Mexico, ROCK! Buen Viaje!

Can you Explain the different bus stations locations in Mexico City they are a bit confusing thank you.
@mexicotravelexperiences5 жыл бұрын
Hey Albert, I always think of the Mexico City bus stations like on a compass; one is in the north part of the city (Terminal Norte), one south (Terminal Sur), one west (Terminal Poniente or sometimes called, Observatorio), and one east (Terminal Oriente or TAPO), TAPO stands for Terminal de Pasajeros del Oriente. FYI - This is the closest bus station to the Mexico City Airport. So if you are taking a bus to another location in the country, usually you would leave on a bus that is closest to the direction you are going. Of course, there are always exceptions as sometimes there may be a couple of the terminals that have buses which go to the same cities. Sometimes I personally use www.busbud.com/en to find what bus lines go to the destination I want to go. Hope this all helps. Stay in touch.

Hi John, Thanks for sharing your story. Unfortunately there are people out there in all countries who decided their "profession" will be stealing. They wake up each morning with their goal for that day to take from others. Even Rick Steves, the expert on European travel has been pickpocketed twice while traveling in Europe ... and he writes articles about how to stay safe in Europe! Knock on wood, I have never experienced any bad situations in my travels in Mexico ... but I realize there is always that possibility. In the past, I have been robbed in Chicago, my van broken into and ALL my luggage stolen in New Orleans, and I was harassed by a group of local Jamaicans while vacationing in their country simply because I was a foreigner and they didn't want me and my German friends who were with me in THEIR nightclub. I have ridden the Meteo in Mexico City many times and know how crowded it can get. For 99% of the local people who ride on these trains, they are just trying to get to work or go home or visit friends/family. However we do have to be vigilent at all times about our surroundings and our belongings when out in public. It is what it is. Happy safe travels!

@mexicotravelexperiences6 жыл бұрын
Hi Cynthia, Thanks for watching my video!!! There are different bus companies based on the regions of Mexico you are traveling through. For most points east of Mexico City (all the way to Cancun), you won't go wrong with ADO. On some of their routes, they also have ADO GL which is a more exclusive bus with fancier amenities. For points west of Mexico City, there are several ... Ominbus, ETN, Primero Plus, and Turistar. Here is a website with more detailed descriptions of some of the buses I have listed. www.busbud.com/blog/major-bus-providers-mexico-compare/ One bus lines missing from the above website is ADO. I have traveled on ADO buses dozens of times from Mexico City to Veracruz, and from Veracruz to Matamoros, Oaxaca City, Puebla, Puerto Escondido, Villahermosa and all over the state of Veracruz. So far, all my experiences using this company have all been positive. Hope this info helps. If you have more questions, just let me know. Happy Travels!

I'm from Canada. I got pick pocketed in the airport in TJ. When I arrived in Guanajuato I was waiting at the airport bus stop to catch a bus into town and I realized I didn't have my wallet. I said out loud "Oh shit my wallet's gone". A young woman heard me and told her parents what she heard me say. After talking with her parents she came over to me and gave me $20. She said "this is from my family". I might forget getting pick pocketed in TJ one day but I'll never forget a stranger who I'd never spoken with coming over to me to give me money when she heard I had none.

Glad to be of help Marie. The first class buses are usually always comfortable so I think you should be fine. Primera Plus bus lines is nice. If I had a choice, I would take the bus lines called, ETN. Many of their first class buses have reclining seats where you can almost lie flat to sleep. ETN will also probably give you a snack and a soft drink or water before you board the bus. I like ETN. Just so you know, to my knowledge, there are no buses going to Guadalajara directly from the Mexico City Airport. You would have to catch your bus from one of the 4 major bus terminals in Mexico City. Enjoy Guadalajara. It's a great place to explore!

Marie Alva Thousands of airplanes fill the skies each day throughout the world and land safely without incidents. Day after day. Week after week. And so on. Sure, every once in a while one (out of tens of thousands of flights, one encounters a problem). It's the same with the buses in Mexico. Everyday there are hundreds of buses traveling throughout Mexico safely. They travel day & night and arrive to their destination without incidents. You will be traveling from the largest city in Mexico to the 2nd largest city. Thousands of people use the bus system (which is excellent in Mexico) for pleasure and for business between these two cities each month and they arrive safely. As you will see, the bus drivers are very professional. They even wear coats and ties. Your direct bus ride to Guadalajara should be routine and uneventful. My advice. Recline your seat, get comfortable, and have a nice rest on your trip.

I've heard good and bad stories about Greyhound and still unsure??

Hi Chris, Durango is a cool place to visit. If you are adventurous, you can find some restaurants in the capital city which serve scorpion tacos. Let me know if you decide to try them. As for bus travel, my opinion about Greyhound is that their service sucks. I have taken Greyhound a couple times and they were unpleasant experiences. However, the major bus companies in Mexico are first class. If you are traveling by bus from a US city, perhaps you may have to take Greyhound to the border. Then you can switch to a Mexican bus once you cross. Here are 2 sites you might want to check out. www.busbud.com www.checkmybus.com Hope this helps. Let me know how your travels went.

Wow! You are the very first person to ever ask me about bringing a pet bird on buses in Mexico. That's a good question which I do not at this time have the answer. Since there are multiple bus companies operating throughout the country of Mexico, it would probably best to actually email the bus line you would like to use directly. It would be best to write your question in Spanish. If you don't know Spanish, then you could use one of the free online translation services. Also, I would love to hear what you find out. Please leave a comment to let me know what the bus company says in regards to bringing pets onboard. Happy travels to you and your pet bird. See you in Mexico!

Thousands and thousands of airplanes fly the skies of the world everyday without incident. Yes, every-so-often one crashes for some reason . Yet, it is very rare and so everyday tens of thousands of passengers arrive safely to their destination. Likewise, hundreds (thousands?) of buses crisscross the highways of Mexico everyday without incident ... and every single day they arrive safely to their destinations. Think about this. Over a million people from other countries chose to live in Mexico. Why would they do that if they thought the country was racked in total chaos. They answer ... the whole country is not. Just things to think about. Hope this helps. Drop me a line after you arrive to Queretaro. I was just there two weeks ago. It's a great place to visit! And yes, I rode on several Mexican buses to get there.
