Bali is a must if you are in that part of the world. Great little island with really cool atmosphere from the beaches and then head up in the mountains and see all the rice fields/jungles and lovely little villages. Ubud is a great place to head to when on the island.

Thanks for the tip! Bali is definitely on our list of potential stops. We'll see where we end up!

I have an ides for you; another sailor, that lost his boat in the last hurricane season, did what you are about to do and bought an inexpensive ticket to Thailand just because he could and he had to clear his head after his boat loss. If you check out “Boat Charters, Thailand” on line....they also have a LARGE factory that caters to the National University’s program of teaching young people to build boats! Catamarans specifically and they threw out the welcome mat, showed him the factory (plus an all electric ⚡️ catamaran) and were his English speaking hosts. Now, this guy struck up a conversation and ended up with the sweetest itinerary, far exceeding his wildest dreams whilst helping the owners too. I’m trying to make this short however, he had not planned anything but to fly to Thailand. The rest was pure magic. You and Brenda love a serendipity situation and you make marvelous videos SO.......you asked for suggestions. This is one!

I wanted to amend the name of the company in Thailand; these two names are the same concern. Gulf Charters Thailand (.com) and Island Spirit Catamarans. The first named also has several International Sailing Association chartered classes and sailing instruction courses (Zero to Hero). Which you certainly don’t need, just information. I’m not paid or getting a cut and they don’t even know who I am.

While in BKK you must see the Grand Palace, Reclining Buddha and have a cocktail at the Vertigo Bar.... take a bus or train to Ayutthaya for the Most Beautiful and Authentic Temples . Most well known beach areas are flooded with chinese tourist. I want to recommend Koh Lipe, it's like a hour flight to Hat Yai..then a 2 hour taxi ride to the dock then a speed boat ride for about an hour to Koh Lipe. We stayed at Mountain Resort in 2014 for 5 days. Loved this island and Koh Adang for a day excursion, they'll drop ya'll off with lunch/drinks ect.. While in Hat Yai check out Hat Yai floating market. Yes there are lots of floating markets around BKK but this HY one is easy to get to and on the way to Koh Lipe. Check all these out in google images so you know what is best for ya'll. Phuket/Koh Samui ect. are over-crowded/over priced tourist traps in my opinion... ya'll will be better off hitting Ko Chang or Krabi. Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai has lost lots of their Thai Culture appeal for me... it's ok to visit but there's so much more out of town takes like the water falls near Chum Thong, the Golden Triangle, the hill tribes, Elephant Training Camp, Mai Sai crossing.. suggest hiring a taxi in CR for a day or 3 and take a tour around this NE area. Tell the driver you want to see where the barges are loading to cross the Mekong into Laos. Luang Probang is a world heritge site and a 1 hour flight from CM.. also take in Pha That Luang Vientiane. This a must and plan on spending a few days in Vientiane. Then on top of all that... there's Viet Nams Sapa Rice Terraces! Makes my mouth water I tell ya! Enjoy ya'lls vaca and can't wait to see some awesome shots and vids. HooRah for Ya'll!

So I traveled over there quite a bit for work. While you are there you must take some time in BK but make sure you also check out Phuket and the nature preserves in northern Thailand. Thailand is a place of wonderment and you can get lost in that vortex for a long time. People are great and very friendly. I think it gets a bad rap for the red light districts, which are real and a must see, but there is so much more. Lots of ex-pats all over Thailand. Singapore is somewhere everyone should visit but can be expensive. Vietnam is another natural wonderland from the beaches to the historical locations. Malaysia is another great place from Kuala Lumpur “KL” to lots of beautiful places to visit.

So who knew Mexico City had so many pretty doors? Thanks for sharing some of them with us. The "ruins"/"pyramids" were cool but I'm sure that's where the "StairMaster" must have been invented, way back when. Finally, I don't remember ever seen your hair so much in any previous video's. Always hidden beneath a cap, so from now on dude show it off more! For those of us who are follicley impaired, we salute a head with lots of them!! Now go enjoy your family kids and play nice!Smooches to Brenda!

I loved your series of videos from Mexico and how you guys always seemed to find the best street food. My wife and I will be going to Puerto Vallarta for the first time in January. Like you, first up will be a food tour of the city. :-) Our hang out for the last couple decades was South East Asia so here are some suggestions. Logistically, there are two main questions for you. 1) Do you want to see the best beaches? If yes, head south along the coastline to Phuket and Langkawi in Malaysia then maybe as far south as Singapore. Then return back north along the east coast of the peninsula with stops in places like Tioman Island and Koh Samui on the way back to BKK. If you are into beaches and the islands off the coast, this would be worth maybe six weeks. This is important because it means six weeks that you would not have to see the rest of SE Asia. If you are not into an all beach trip, forget about heading south out of Bangkok for now. There are plenty of beaches to be seen on the trip I describe below. 2) Do you want to see Myanmar aka Burma? If yes, this is a side trip from Thailand. I assume you have round trip tickets to BKK. Myanmar would need to be done either just after you arrive in BKK or just before you depart from BKK because... The following is "The Big Loop" and would be worth your entire four months, five if you are really enjoying it. I've done many trips like this myself. Your first target would be Luang Phrabang, the cultural capital of northern Laos. There are two routes to get there from BKK. The bests ruins in Thailand are just to the north of Bangkok so you can see them no matter what. They are all listed in your guide book to Thailand. From there, you go either north to Kamphaeng Phet and Tak on the way to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in northwestern Thailand. You cross into northern Laos there on the way to Luang Phrabang. Note that from Tak, you can cross overland into Myanmar at the Mae Sot / Myawaddy border crossing. A great recent report about it is here www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g294190-i9408-k10564898-Crossing_border_Mae_Sot_Thailand_to_Myawaddy_Myanmar_2017-Myanmar.html. Or, from the ruins just to the north of Bangkok, you head east towards Buriram and Ubon Ratchathani on the way to Pakse on the Mekong River in southern Laos. Immediately to the south of Pakse is the huge and rarely visited ancient temple complex called Champassak, sister to the Angkor Wat complex in Cambodia. From there, you head north up the Mekong River to Luang Phrabang. There is plenty to see along the way up the Mekong. Luang Phrabang is a must see in itself, but it is also the gateway for overland trips into northern Vietnam and finally Hanoi. From there, the rest of the trip is easy to envision. There is nothing to see along the coastline between Hanoi and Hue so take an overnight train. Hue is the ancient cultural capital of Vietnam. From there, a trip south along the coastline or via the Central Highlands on the way to Ho Chi Minh City Saigon is worth a good three weeks, more if you are enjoying it. From Ho Chi Minh City, Cambodia is obviously next on the way to see the Angkor Wat temple complex in Siem Reap. If you need some beach time before getting back onto an airplane in BKK, there are many great beaches along the Thai coastline between Trat and Bangkok. Obviously, you could do this trip in either direction, ie, hit the beaches along the Thai coastline between Bangkok and Trat before crossing over into Cambodia to see Angkor Wat, then east to Ho Chi Minh, et cetera. Enjoy!

Awesome info! Thanks for the suggestions. We're pretty excited to get there and this is going to be extremely helpful!

Your "four month" thing touched a cord because normal tourist visas in the area are usually 30 days x four months = 4 countries :-) Look at the visa question closely, for Myanmar in particular. Both Myanmar and Vietnam require that you specify your arrival date. 28 days is the max for Myanmar and that is pretty much what it takes to see both the south and north of Myanmar. 30 days is the max for Laos and Cambodia and is more than enough time for Laos and Cambodia respectively. 30 days is the max for Vietnam but is NOT enough time to see everything in Vietnam. Minimum three weeks in the north and three weeks in the south is what I recommend but to get this done, you need to apply for a 90 day Vietnamese visa before you leave the States. This means that you need to specify an arrival date though, which locks you into a schedule. Finally, there are many variations on the "Big Loop" in southern Cambodia / southern Vietnam. You'll figure them out as you read your guide books about Sihanoukville / Kampot / Ha Tien along the Cambodian coastline. But I will take the moment to point out a rare route in Myanmar if you decide to not go to Champassak and the Mekong River in southern Laos. If going northbound out of Bangkok, once you arrive in Tak, you go overland west into Myanmar via the Mae Sot / Myawaddy border crossing. Then west to Yangon / Rangoon then west to the beaches maybe but eventually ending up in the north in Mandalay, a must see in Myanmar. However, instead of planning to head back to the Myawaddy / Mae Sot crossing, make your final destination in Myanmar the major tourist attraction that is Inle Lake. It is in all the guide books. On the way there, you pass through a town called HeHo, also spelled He Hoe. There is an airport there for flights to Tachilek, on the Myanmar / Thai border just to the north of Chiang Rai. It is not possible to go overland between HeHo and Tachilek by road because of the 50 plus year war in Shan state, but it is possible to fly between HeHo and Tachilek for under 200 dollars per person. Upon arrival in Tachilek, you simply walk across the border back into Thailand at the Mae Sai border crossing. From there, take a bus to the border crossing with Laos at Huay Xai and take a boat down the Mighty Mekong River to Luang Phrabang. It works in the same way in the reverse direction. Wow, your four month schedule is going to be full :-) Looking forward to following your trip. Cheers, facebook.com/sfogm9
