Ima be honest. As an Ecuadorian, I was getting so angry at how they played. I don’t know if it’s on the technical side or the players but there was no passion to play. The guy had a knack to pick players he knew he could get the most out of even when no one else thought they should be on the squad. From picking guys from essentially the entire America and Leon roster for the 2014 World Cup (along with a few of their in form players from Europe) and taking guys like Vuoso (and SCORED) at the 2015 Copa America, he knew what the hell he was doing.

Feel for Mexico, they played a really good 2nd half and deserved a goal. Ecuador flopped a bit and wasted time like they did vs Colombia in 2022 qualifiers in Barranquilla and they have good players to be doing that. Ecuador also missed easily 3 to 4 counters to kill the game off and looked very sloppy doing so. My Ecuadoran friends think it's the coach who is the problem. But anyway, keep you heads up Mexico. Vamos Colombia!!

mexico doesn't need players in the top 5 leagues in eueope, if only they gave opportunity to u20 players in the big Liga MX teams, Liga MX is a good league with really high level but their talent development doesn't exist also if that can't be achieved they simply need players in good teams outside of the top 5 leagues that play champions league and europa league like Dynamo Zagreb, Olympiacos, Sporting Lisboa, Sporting Braga, Anderlecht, Celtic, etc. I think mexican players would thrive in those teams and then advance to the top 5 leagues

Sour grapes from these 2 podcasters. Blaming Ecuador for not going for the extra goal is weak. Ecuador did the work before this game (beating Jamaica by 2 goals). They had no reason to take risks , i.e., open the game up and did right by playing the low block. In the end, Mexico had their chances in the tournament and didn't convert on their most makeable opportunity during the tournament with a penalty missed at the end of the Venezuela game. Overall, I will admit that Mexico played better than that what I expected before the tournament. They still are creative enough offensively, they're midfield looks okay and the D looks okay. If they get a finisher their results will improve significantly.
