Apart from this being another info packed tutorial, I just love the way you edit your videos around the YT ads. They always come on at an appropriate time, for example, between different subjects/chapters, and not right in the middle of a sentence. I find it so infuriating in other you tubers videos....so much so, that sometimes I've even left their tutorial because of this. Love your channel. Thanks😃

Hi Mey you are aMeyzing! Thank you for all your videos, they are so informative but it's your wonderful "real" personality that makes it enjoyable! I used to take handwritten notes, but then I got so frustrated because I had to peruse 10 pages before I could find one piece of information. Downloading the transcript or taking notes on my computer whether it's in a Word document, Notepad, or something else, is far easier to search for keywords and find what I'm looking for. As for the person who asked the question "how the liquefy effect works" I think I understand why this person asked you. They probably asked you because they knew they would get an accurate answer. Personally, way too often I have to listen to 10-20 videos before I can find the right answer to my questions, and I just don't have time to do that. When I find a good reliable source, I stick with them. I think that's the problem with KZbin, so many videos, it's hard to find the good ones. Or, they could have gone to Photoshop and found the answer faster than Google... Anyway, thanks again, love your videos!!!!

Thank you so much for this highly informative video. You are absolutely right, you can do print on demand with free tools. I am using gimp for editing the photos I use for my Zazzle shop; I use inkscape as a free alternative for adobe illustrator in order to create vector images; and I use lunapic for removing backgrounds for the traditional art illustrations. It is a bit time consuming because lunapic does not do a 100 percent job and I have to edit the files in gimp. I also think you are absolutely right in referring to free education; however, I think you are the only one who really provides us with the right tutorials about zazzle. I am also p... off when I see so many youTubers talking about how you can earn money quick and easy - no, you cannot. I will definitely have a look into your marketing videos - I think I need them very much...

That Free Education segment is what I truly agreed. Can't top that one for me. With internet existence, plus some exploration, we can really learn stuff for free. For real, really really free. Just one thing that I can't stay away from is, photoshop. Still, my designing skill is still low 😆😆😆 The thing about photoshop is, it's a load of sooooo many tools to use. Once you get the hang of it (and remembers where it is located 😅), photoshop is awesome. Too bad, it's just not as sharp as illustrator. As a photo manipulation software, it does help making pod designs a breeze 😁😁😁😁

Heyyyy! 🤩 that was such an amazing live! My question was how do we set up a name for our POD store and a domain for our website? Do we even need a website when getting started.... the question may have been answered 🙈 Also... can we market without showing our face? Or would that defeat the like know and trust factor for increased sales? I am booming with questions! This channel is a huge life saver and gives oe hope for a great nomadic future 🦄🍭🤩
@MeyTribe
@MeyTribe 2 жыл бұрын
Coming up with a name can be tricky and depends on what you're selling... Try thinking of you, your style, your audience, and your products- and creating a word cloud of some sort. After that you create combinations for them, and when you have a few good names that YOU like- you check them for a domain under that name, as well as if that name is available on the platforms you wanna sell on + social channels. You def don't need a website to get started, unless you want to get started with an external supplier, like Printful or Awkward Styles, that don't have a marketplace, and you don't want to sell those on Etsy. But, having a website can be super beneficial, with blog posts, or just to feature your art, or even make a links page for your social channel's link in Bio. And yup- you can def market without showing your face! However, that depends on what you're selling. If you're ver art oriented, to your own art, the best marketing technique is sharing your life, sharing the process of your creations, and creating that human connection. If you're a niche or a brand- no need to show your face at all. There was a 3 video series on that relating to Instagram, those 3 approaches, maybe that series would help: kzbin.infosearch?query=instagram Honestly, the first bit you asked gave me an idea to maybe make a full video on that... I also have a video planned for how to market when you hate social media LOL And I am super happy you find this content useful

Thank you for another video with great info. I think a live session would be great! I love your emphasis on education and growth. Google is your friend (for information research, at least). I'm living on a fixed income so everything I've done with POD (so far unsuccessfully :o) has been free. I'm using Sketchbook Pro for raster drawing [most things], Gimp for photos, and it's a grab bag for vector drawing (anything from animation software up to and including PowerPoint :)). I think I finally understand what role Canva should play in my workflow, please correct me if I misunderstand - in my case (I draw my things in Sketchbook) I should be using it for building framework/design around my finished illustration - e.g. frames, text, borders, clipart, etc. (or just designing separately within it - but I don't use it yet so the point is moot).
@MeyTribe
@MeyTribe 2 жыл бұрын
I would totally use PowerPoint if I didn't have a mac !!! I think there are so many awesome things you can do with it, also- I know so many people who were selling printables, like planners- using word LOL And yes- you can use Canva as a way to build your design using elements from Canva and from yourself. However, if you're using Zazzle for example, you can create the design directly on their platform if that is a text + your graphics kinda design. There are really many options. Where have you tried selling so far? what's your style like ?
@verdedoodleduck
@verdedoodleduck 2 жыл бұрын
@@MeyTribe I commented twice on this and the comment got axed both times it appears. Maybe because I mentioned a company name? Anyway, one more try... I have a small discombobulated Zzzle store. I found having to do each product variation intimidating but the killer was store organization...I couldn't tell where the new products ended up or how I should create collections, etc. Still, I think that it is by far the best if I can get it together, due to the templates. It's on my vague future to-do list until I have a more concrete idea of what designs sell for me...I do mostly animals in styles of cartoon to realism (I guess..., you be the judge if you happen to take a look at the RdBbble store) I put a fair number of things on RdBbble under VerdeDoodleDuck - it's had no response, basically (zero sales) after 4-5 months. I'm hopeful the art is good enough (I've only been drawing since last year - I'm 'retired' software engineer, just lightly cartooned a bit before) and it's just learning how to get traffic and maybe a little bit (or more) of work professionalizing my finished designs maybe streamlining the store inventories if I can figure out what to carry. I don't have a lot of professional feedback due to the age I've started at (and my severe anxiety that keeps me from readily socializing.)

@MeyTribe

Marketing fabrics, to me, would seem to be best marketed by creating things from these fabrics, which requires ordering them. Or using the patterns on various mockups to seem as if the items were made with the fabric. Also maybe on sewing communities on Facebook and Reddit. I haven't gotten zazzle or AOW fabrics yet, I did get my fabric from printful, which came out insane, so maybe there will be a video on that :) Thanks for the "reminder" - I've had the fabric lying around for ages!!

I wish you would make a video about the 90s/2000s and what was popular. I searched it the other day, but I am still not really sure what it was....and I lived through the 90s/00s. 🤦🤦🤦I would like to see what types of fonts and graphic elements that would be good for that era.
@MeyTribe

Not sure I'd know the fonts for that era, as it feels to me that a lot of them were very similar to the fonts of the 80's and 70's But I will def go about making the tie dye video as well as showing some retro items I found in stores here :)

Personally- I don't think they are expensive too. But so many people asked for a free option in terms of creating POD, and for some people Canva Pro is something they'd need to consider, maybe it would be too expensive for them at the moment, or maybe they are paying for other programs. I know people who create all their designs and mockups with placeit, and only pay them. But yeah, Canva is def worth it for those who can afford

Some people spend money on advertising their RB store- and get 0 sales. that's cause RB contains so many other people, not just you, and when you bring traffic in- people can just click on anything else without noticing they're "leaving" your storefront. I got my first sales rather quickly - as I was marketing my items in groups and in a blog that got a nice load of daily traffic. Marketing doesn't have to cost money, you can market for free on Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Reddit... I haven't seen your shop or know what you've been doing for marketing to give an answer... I posted on the community tab here a post calling out shops with 0 sales to add their shop's name or link so i could review them in a video :)

Makes sense, you can't just take photos without modifying them. Also- some platforms don't want you to "recycle" materials, I know people who got banned for using ready-made CF designs for tshirts- as the platform wanted only genuine creators there.

Hi Mey, i thank you for this helpful video, but i tried Wow Patterns, they really aren't free, they must be attributed, i'm not sure that i spelled this correctly, but i've gone back n' forth with Wow Patterns in emails since last week, they haven't been very helpful, they don't seem to know what i asking them, i need to know how does a person go about attributing, i've clicked onto a few wow images, it does get downloaded, but they are only free for personal use, to use them commercially, i have to (Attribute) them, please could you explain on exactly how does a person get the link url or code onto the image to be able to attribute them?
@MeyTribe
@MeyTribe 2 жыл бұрын
When I spoke to them they said the attribution is only for when you use THEIR patterns, I wasn't using their patterns, I was using their free tool making patterns on my own- which they told me when we spoke last- that that one has no attribution. Maybe check the wowpatterns video I made to see the use of the tool- and NOT their patterns? kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2SmqIOEir1gl6c

So, if a vector on Pixabay says free for commercial use, no attribution required, you cannot use it? I mean to say that you add text to it or incorporate it with other art or change the color of it?
@MeyTribe
@MeyTribe 2 жыл бұрын
If you read the terms of service of Pixabay you'll see that the commercial use requires modification, or being different than the original work. Reselling is not legal with pixabay, or with ANY free stock site unless the specifically state you can use it for Print on Demand as is. Add text, change the colors, make it into a pattern, make it different than the original.

@@MeyTribe I get a little confused when I hear you talk about this. I think what you are meaning to emphasize is to make sure not to use their stock "as is" Because my understanding is that it is OK to use if it is modified. Is that correct?

@@MeyTribe Hi Mey, i think what's not clear to me, is I hear you say it's not OK to use images from pixabay period, thats what it sounds like by the way you inflect or emphasize it( to me anyways). I think what you mean is not to use them exactly "as is" That I understand already, but I'm sure others might not and that is what you are communicating. (I think) So just to be clear, is my understanding correct that if you modify the image (i.e change some colors, add it to other graphics and/or text and it says it is OK for commercial use) that in that case it is OK to use. I think that is what you are saying, only that as I said above that it sounds (sometimes) like you are saying that it is not OK at all to use graphics from Pixabay. I hope I explained that well and it makes sense. And I thank you for your KZbin content.

Ripping off, oh, excuse me - using generic "free" images - or, yes, I'll say it again - ripping off someone else's images is not only unethical, it engenders design for the lowest common denominator. This should be outlawed! If you don't have the ability to create your own images by drawing, painting, photographing or collaging images you created yourself, then you are not qualified to create images to sell on POD sites. This video is a disservice to those of us who actually put the effort into creating unique original artwork. The mentality of using other people's images creates a culture that thinks it's "acceptable" to plagiarize without authorization, works created by people who actually spend hours and hours producing original artworks. It also creates a culture where money hungry idiots copyright and collect royalties on older works they have scanned from printed material.
