I am a die hard Mezco fan. I have this wolverine and i love it. I do agree with everything you said though 100%. I buy mezco figures but i know what I'm getting. this wolverine was probably my last Mezco for a while. they are getting too expensive for me to keep buying them. one thing i didn't like is there should have been like an additional neck that goes with the unmasked headsculpt. looks weird to me like you took your mask off but the neck is still yellow. idk of that's just me or if that even makes sense to anyone. anyway, great review as always

Mezco does such a good job with sculpted plastic, I wish they would do that and no soft-goods. The detail in the gloves, boots, head, and belt is sooo good (ignoring proportion issues), it really makes the fabric suit look like a bad Halloween costume, like they were taken from 2 completely different figures.

@@FlipFlab Yeah, I get your frustration totally. It's the same with video games and how companies are nickel and diming consumers for what used to be basic parts of the game. But, I caved when I saw this one. I thought this was done well and like that the joints are mostly hidden. I think the articulation is pretty decent and you can crank that ab crunch a good amount. I've had a lot of fun posing this guy up and I think when he's not just standing there, his head doesn't look all that big. I don't see it as a $155 dollar figure...I see it as a $155 dollar set. Is that still expensive? Yes. Knock 25 bucks off that. I'm still happy I picked him up though. As a fan of your reviews I respect your opinion, but as a collector of mezco I do have to disagree when it comes to THIS figure. Being a mezco collector I am hard on the figures if I don’t like the look or the articulation I will sell it so I’m not thinking with a closed mind. This figure compared to the first release of tiger strip is way better in my opinion. To each his own. Not everyone is a fan of the cloth look, but for me as a photographer I love figures that give a realistic feel in photos. As you said for some who collect casually they may not enjoy it when it comes to the pose ability but that depends on the collector at the end of the day. Again I appreciate your honesty which is why I watch your reviews. Great job keep up the good work.
@MrRawnch2 жыл бұрын
Same here and I agree with your assessment 100%. The strength of a Mezco is a realistic approximation of a character based on their drawn representation. I think Mezco has done something that is very difficult to pull off on a 1/12 that is usually seen in a Hoy Toys 12-inch figure. Mezco costumes are fantastic in photogenic light and don't stand out under a bright white sterile background. Behind a custom backdrop and good lighting and these are wonderful models to pose. I often appreciate the candor of the reviewer but I kinda feel like this was negative just for the heck of it. Other toy reviewers agree that this is an outstanding figure for the price point.

I haven't got a Mezco figure since 2020, and even then it was a relatively brief time I spent collecting them and I didn't get many. For me I stopped namely due to the price, but also because whilst I do like how they look I never pick them up or pose them, and that's due to a fear of straining or damaging the material. That's why I never plan on getting into Hot Toys, I imagine that like Mezco I feel like I'd spend more time concerned about how they'll hold up over time rather than just enjoying them for what they are.

I like sculpt, not fabric. It just makes figures look like dolls and you lose a lot of the sculpt and musculature. I'm cool with fabric if it's something like a cape or jacket. A lot of Mezco's look pretty nice (like the new Superman), but I can't get into the line because I can't get past the fabric look. Even with someone like Superman, it makes him look unflattering and unsuper. So less Superman and just Man.

I don't like to rain on anyone's parade and I have a lot of Twitter mutuals and such who are in love with this figure (and Mezco in general) but I just can't get onboard. I hate this kind of clothing on superhero bodies. The texture just looks so off to me and I just honestly don't get the appeal. If you like it, great, it just looks all kinds of wrong to me. And I am with you on the proportions as that head, which is fine by itself, doesn't look like it belongs on that body. No shape, no definition, and if you're going to put 1:12 in your product's name you should definitely make sure it's true. This is not a 1:12 scale Wolverine, he's way too tall. I just get the impression that people get caught up in the price tag and somewhat exclusive nature of this line and that's what does it for them. There's a value there that's just created by the price and branding. Again, I'm not trying to make people hate this figure or Mezco or in general, but I just don't see the appeal. Thanks for the honest review.

Seeing this now, the height and proportions being off is a common problem with mezco, its the whole reason why I buy mostly they're original characters compared to the licenced stuff. Some of their worst being Darkseid, Hulk, Variant Cable, most female figures ( bad proportions and articulation), and all suited figures not named Gomez or Skulls. They were originally made with detail, cloth goods, and articulation in mind; considering they advertise it on the box, but very few people are willing to critisize them for mistakes and just sheer laziness. I mean seriously, is it so hard to have decent articulation on all of these figures (taking muscle mass, proportioning and scale into account), considering your paying $90 to $200 for a "premium quality" product.

The biggest question for any Mezco figure is this: “Is he wearing a sock?” Yes, Wolverine is wearing a sock. I immediately thought of a weekend warrior cosplaying in a cheap suit when I saw this- he saw the $100 costume and the $500 costume and picked the $100 one. If the rest of the suit was the same leatherette as the diaper or they used the same stylized patches and neoprene-like stretchy foam material as they do on Black Bolt or Magneto, maybe it would have worked better, but the proportions still would stink as Wolverine shouldn’t have love handles. I might pay $50 for this for the base, stand, and the clear effects, but I’d definitely still sell the figure or just give it away because it’s just ugly. There are so many figures being released these days that I wouldn’t even take for free because they’re just so poorly executed.

I agree. The body proportions are nuts

I laughed when you pointed out the silver on his lip, never would have noticed that.

X effect yo can use it on character (figure) to imitate de weapon x finish of the marvel vs capcom games, or not , I think it fits 🤔

I wish you would’ve done a photoshop for this one, but good review. I got this figure and loved it, but you had great points.

I love the figure but I do agree with what you said. Love your reviews. It helps me decide if I want a figure. I was not gonna get SH Figuarts Cooler and your review changed my mind and I love that Cooler

I think the blue shoulder pads is what makes it look like he doesn’t have traps and a long neck

I like the sentinel base. I think its too much for what you're getting. The tin comment was spot on, cmon metal? 😆

I wouldn’t mind getting the headsculpts onto marvel legends

I really enjoyed their mk figures.. but when they said they would do cloth figs at that scale, i was impresses that they tried. Never bought any of them though.

Honestly, I just get the rumble society stuff. They seem to dump all the love and care into those. I have like one Batman and both Moon Knights. While I do love them, they can be a little frustrating to mess around with. I was on the fence with this one for a long time but I’m glad I passed.
@corruptpixel84412 жыл бұрын
Yeah they screwed up moon knight with no ab crunch and no ankle articulation

I tried to collect Mezco but a lot of their superhero figures just don't look right. They can't achieve the exaggerated musculature look of comic characters with cloth over a plastic body. Their non-superhero figures generally look pretty cool though.

Yeah I noticed it seemed off when I got this figure and thought to myself "I wish Anthony would review this to point out exactly why it looks so weird but he probably won't." And here we are. Yeah the accessories are epic but them proportions are killing me 😭

Wooow 5 lol. Lots of people were praising this. Never seen this in hand tho.

I have it and enjoy it. Mezco isn't for everyone, and yes the price is too high as is every line now.
@samanoske1628 Жыл бұрын
so funny you saying they look like migos because I have said that too. I have owned a couple in my collecting but could not afford them for one and I could never get past the cloth goods at this scale just makes them look like dolls lol. also limits articulation

Fabric can look wonky even in 1/6 and 1/4 scales but definitely does in 1/12 with the exception of capes. So that Mezco 1/12 is not for me. I do love their older lines, specially Hellboy.
@AnthonysCustoms2 жыл бұрын
agreed. they had such nice sculpts

Glad I canceled my order of this guy and saved 155$ . Mezco is hit or miss for me as a collector . I’m not a big mezco guy personally. Also to mention I’ve seen a video of this wolverine soft good costume was stitched off centered lol!!!

Damn. I do respect you cuz u do usually keep it real with all the issues or what can do done better. Even when u like the figures or character, which clearly u don’t like this or mezco. But yeah this one hurt mines is in my pile of loot now at bbts and idk if I should even get it now or take store credit. And I been looking forward to this figure

I don't like cloth and soft goods in general. That's why I prefer Amazing Yamaguchi for example.
