Got the CT Toys bootleg and the bootleg actually improved a lot (plus it's way cheaper as it cost me about $15) While he still has the blue stripes and long claws, he's a tad bit shorter than the official (which is better for a character like Wolverine), his arms don't pop off, the blue is much darker, he has better leg range and the chest also has better range and they added a swivel at the boot

@@KingInBlack24 your call man. But Eddie Brock's height is listed at 6'3, Spider-Man's at 5'10. Even in his first appearance when we see Eddie he looks as big as Thor and starts pressing like 500lbs. The symbiote if anything should only make him bigger. We only have humongous Venom figures, ugly ones that don't look like either Eddie or Venom (*cough, Hasbro, *cough*), and the only one we got that is as close to perfect as a Venom can get, is 100+ dollars and isn't even the right scale with his other very expensive counterparts. We don't ask much, especially if we're paying 100 bucks for a 6 inch, it's a 3rd of the price for Hot Toys...

As an artist, you're theory is correct! The blue black issue is basically light against black. The blue spots represents the light bouncing off of a black image. Great review BTW. I wanted this fig but mafex is too expensive imo. Their toys like most companies are hit or miss. With prices within the $100 range, I don't expect trial and error experiences that's similar to bigger companies like hasbro. Thanks again!

Noah Mint - Heads up, John Romita designed the first appearance tiger stripe uniform. Gil Kane changed his mask and what we see today was largely refined between Dave Cockrum and John Byrne. While it is the uniform Logan wore in some Jim Lee issues it is not a Jim Lee design.

In Spiderman the animated series, when Spidey meets the X Men, Wolverine stripes are blue. Also in the cover art of X Men the animated series . i think in X Men vs. Street Fighter . So my guess they pick that color scheme .

Considering since day one it was shown to have blue stripes idk that can be a valid "knock" against it. Don't get me wrong I passed because of that very thing but I won't hold it against the final product. Same goes for the claws. That said there are a lot of issues. For me it comes down to the paint aps. No reason they shouldn't have been applied with some better care. I'm hoping that they'll do a release with black stripes and up the paint quality. Considering Spider-man got a second release with "comic" detailing it seems pretty likely. I'd also like to see an extension to the bicep peg to alleviate the issue with the arms falling off. Past that I find the rest to be design choices that I'm ok with. I know it won't be for everyone but for me fix the paint colors/applications and the bicep and you have a solid release.

Yeah, we did know it was shown to be that way but it's still not supposed to be that way and products usually change from the proto images to the final release. They chose to leave the problems. People need to know that before buying.

@@AnthonysCustoms If it wasn't an open window product and images on the back showed the stripes as black I'd agree but thats not the case. Any site you order it from shows it as blue. If you buy it seeing it's clearly blue and expect black... That's on the purchaser not the company. Its actually one of my concerns related to the upcoming "no/reduced plastics in packaging" idea that's been circulated by toy companies going forward. Promo pics on the back with disclaimers "colors may vary" and the consumer being left to roll the dice that there wasn't some change made that they may not like since they have no way of seeing the final product until purchase. Here though that's simply not the case.

I'm glad you gave this a objective opinion instead of how some of the other reviewers have been praising this figure saying that this is a good figure. I think they had some ok figures, but most of their figures have had some major issues. Almost every reviewer loved their iron spider and hated the SHF version. I get if people don't like the SHF version, but it came out during the time of the movie and the MF came out almost a year later and the spider legs broke on nearly everyone and they still loved it. The hulk had the same falling apart issue but for some reason people loved it. I not saying that there is a perfect toy company, but call it how you review it. Thumbs up.

Anthony, someone on reddit made a good point about the joint. They may be trying to recycle it and use different bicep sleeves for different releases. That would explain the arm length. Still 100% ridiculous for a $100 figure. I expect zero forced reuse at that price. Really hope the other characters they have planned this year don’t bomb this hard.

I was breaking into the Mafex line with Wolverine. Wolverine was going to be my first one, but after seeing your review I'm skeptical for the line. @Anthony I just got my MAFEX Wolverine delivered from BBTS and I gotta say, mine doesn’t have any issues. Paint looks squared away, arms haven’t fallen off, the blue stripes don’t bother me as much as he did have them in the X-Men Vs Street Fighter series. But as for the other issues, mine is pretty solid. Maybe a 2nd run? Got him and Cyclops both and they’re both great. No issues. Maybe MAFEX is seeing these QC issues and making changes?

Still black stripes from kubert. Just a few have heavy blue shading...but the face does too. Claws match his work almost exactly but the rest of the figure doesn't and it's not a common look for him really anyway.

AnthonysCustoms in a lot of his art they are just blue. Not shaded. It’s a very rare look at generally not followed, but it’s there. It’s certainly not common, but then again nor was their deadpool design choice.

Yeah after I got the mafex venom figure I knew I was done buying from mafex. They are soooooo expensive and everytime I try to swap hands or accessories for my spidey or venom im scared to death that im going to break something. Very glad I decided to skip this one lol hopefully they learn and maybe drop the price for their stuff! 94.99 is wayyy to expensive smh
