I put up a 42 X 40 building from Cleary. I signed and put down a deposit on August 8 2021. The building was finally started in July of 2022. Less than 30 days before my permit expired. The final sign off was done in December 2022. I was very frustrated by this entire experience. I feel the frustration you have had. It is finally over. I enjoy your videos for the ideas. It is winter now and I have had snow cover since Christmas. No heat yet in the building but I plan to put some in this summer. Keep the videos coming,

It's hard to envision anyone worse than Cleary. Honestly.

Nobody gonna mention that hammer of a whitetail under the stairs?. Lol

Leave the area open. Instead to increase wall space utilize sliding barn doors to double and triple wall space. I've only seen it done in stores, but should be used in residential to give you increased wall space without loss of usable space. Peg board, and narrow shelves would be ideal...

as far as the wall in your work area, maybe make the wall from the post to the wall by your wife's "party area" so you can keep full access to under the stair storage.

Good morning I would love to have a building just like with the upstairs loft 30 by 40 with only one roll up door and a single regular looking forward to hear

Gonna be honest. I'm not completely hating the guy's idea of being able to look out the window when sitting at a desk. 🤷♂

Most desks aren’t even that low. Doesn’t make sense.

Couldn't you screw a 1x4 about a 1 1/2 inch above the lower plywood sheets and slide the top sheet into the hole to hold the weight up and screw off the top sheet ? Just the way i wold do it lol
@kllisk Жыл бұрын
Installed my own roll up doors and an operator for one, I expect to be screwed by any contractor that does work for me ! That is the sorry ass society we live in.

Building my own 40/60/16 and doing it all myself. The only thing I used a “contractor” for was a materials package. His price was better than I could get anywhere. We do not have Menards here in TN but it appears they have ok pricing and a better variety than Lowe’s and HD

I would suggest you delete that walkway leading back to the office. I would shift that wall of the store room out to the edge of the deck where you have a hand rail. Then put shelves all the way down that wall of the store room with a walkway leading back to the office. You will have to walk through the store room to get to the office, but it gives you an additional 3' of space in the store room.
@utubekilller Жыл бұрын
I like that idea. Or even another idea is switch the two rooms. Since the store room is the bigger of the two rooms move that wall and make the front room the office. Then at least the walkway to the back room would be shortened up and he said the office seemed a little big so that would make it a little smaller.

Thanks for making this video. I have a fresh 30x50x16 steel building and the plan has always been to build finished loft, and essentially where your workshop is, Im finishing a 10x10 office. Nice work. What is your post spacing, and OC on the floor joists?
@bbhmltn8 ай бұрын
Thanks! My building is 42’x 60’ so the post spacing is roughly 14’ for the loft. The floor joists are 16” on center. I went that close just because I knew there would be a decent amount of weight up there and also because it’s 14’ deep.

Why don't you make a bracket to hold the osb on the side of the lift.
@BryanPAllen Жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. Or cut down a piece of plywood to maybe 20”x36” , slip it under man cage using its weight to keep it there and have a bigger lip to stabilize USB on.
@seangorman634114 күн бұрын
If you haven't finishing the OSB walls yet and still have the lift, make a bracket, I did and works great

Where are you at with this price-wise? $100k+? No judgement here. I’ve looked at these products and know how much materials are but am curious how much more having others install them increases the bottom line.

Closest build on youtube to my thought process for my 28x40x18. How wide did you go with your stairs? My shells up but no floor yet and thinking about plumbing for at least a urinal.
@bbhmltn Жыл бұрын
My stairs are three foot wide. I wish I had plumbing inside but maybe someday

your built up beam should be a 3ply 2" x 10" instead of 2ply.

Good content I subscribed. Take a look at my channel if you get a minute looks like we have some common interests. I installed a Chamberlain RJO70 shaft drive opener on my 12x12 door and no issues opening. If the spring is sized right for your door and installed properly it really doesn’t take much effort to lift the door.

Exactly what I am looking to do. What made you go with 4x4 instead of 6x6?
@themichaelholdrenАй бұрын
Same thing for me. 4x4 seems a little small to me though.

What are the Dimensions of this building? I heard you say the side walls are 16 foot but didn’t catch the footprint. Is it 40x60 or larger? Also what is the footprint of the mezzanine floor? Thanks
@bbhmltn11 ай бұрын
The building is 42x60. The mezzanine is 14x42. Thanks for watching!

Only way I would do a measurement in a building like this is if I can put a car lift underneath it or where it would be close to it so I could you know do stuff on the knee the car you know do there's oil change and stuff like that
